Loneliest Road in America Road Trip: 3 Days Driving Highway 50 Through Nevada

Highway 50, through Northern Nevada, was named the loneliest road in America by Life Magazine. Since then, it has become an unofficial tourist attraction in the state and a fun road trip if you are looking to experience Nevada's raw beauty. This drive follows the old Pony Express route and the Lincoln Highway as it traverses across the state. My dad and I set out to drive the route over 3 days, and here is our road trip that includes ghost towns, rail yards, ancient trees, and haunted hotels.

Have you driven the route? Let me know what your favorite spot was in the comments.

To still have your dad around is a true blessing from God. To actually be able to do road trips with him are memories for a lifetime. My dad is gone and we never got a chance to do this. If anyone is reading this you just don't know how important it is to do this. Honor your mother and your father and you will live a long life. You will also be thankful and at peace with a treasure trove of stories and memories to share. Nothing can replace the time spent with your parents so don't waste or ignore it. Make them a priority in your life. Thank you for this video. Seeing you and your dad melts my heart. This was a real blessing and a joy to me. I miss you dad.

I went down this road on a motorcycle by myself at night. It was pretty eerie but awesome. I even stopped in the middle of a 90 mile stretch with no services for a while. Every car (about 4) that drove by stopped to ask if I needed help. I was just admiring the scenery with a long range flashlight I had on me. I'm from Illinois so the vast openness is very awe inspiring!

I cried watching this, I grew up in Reno and my Dad sold industrial equipment. I loved going with him on trips to Austin, Ely, Tonopah, and exploring the great smoky valley, the Reese River valley and central northern Nevada in general. Miss you Dad.

As a truck driver. Don’t recommend driving at night. May pass a car every 10 min and it’s so dark you definitely will feel like your seeing things that aren’t really there.

As "they" say - "Your Daddy raised you right." Seems like it would be great to have a Dad like this man.

When I was young, around 60 years ago, my grandfather had some mining property by Baker Nevada and times I would go with him. We left home between 10 pm and midnight and being a kid would fall asleep during the trip. I would wake in the morning still in the car right at the Welcome to Utah sign. We would go in the cafe there at state line had have breakfast before heading into the mountains.

I am from Yemen, and I love America, the most beautiful spot on the face of the earth. I envy its people. I wish I were one of its residents. I find comfort in exploring and seeing the beauty of its land on YouTube. ❤❤❤

I rode the entire Rt 50 on my Bicycle in 1983...solo! The only "support" I had, was anything I could carry on my bike-tent, tire repair kit etc... My favorite town was Austin, I wish I could have spent more time site seeing! Great Video!

It's cool you take road trips with your Dad. I did too. I took several road trips with my Dad but sadly lost him just over a year ago but I still have my many great memories.

My dad loved road trips, and my mom and he were always travelling to see different places. After he passed away, Mom was still able to get out on the road for a while. So, we did a bunch of road trips together. Every time that I would go down a side road to explore or investigate some signed attraction, she would exclaim, "You are just like your dad with that: That's what he would always do. Sadly, her health does not permit her getting around much nowadays, but she still has great memories of all those trips and adventures.
