Jumping back into RS2 Nam' today, a great PVP shooter with lots of unique features. It's $25 but very commonly goes on sale for $7 which is an absolute steal. 9/10 would get gibbed by an RPG again.

probably would've had RO3 by now if Tripwire didn't actively hate this franchise for some reason

That was a distractingly good Kronk impression

Truly no game that feels as good as RS2V. The shooting is just great, the helis are great, and the balance between realism and arcade is perfect

I still play RS2, one of my favorite games. You really can’t get much like it anymore

Don't assume every little red chunk on the ground is fruit, especially after a litany of explosions.

The game has a *ton* of really cool sim-lite features.

* Unlike 99% of games where the iron sights are always perfectly aligned, your front and rear sights will jump around a lot under rapid fire so it's nearly impossible to keep the point of aim centered, it will naturally move around with recoil. This means the rifle zeroing is accurate and the battle-zero for AKs of 300m works perfectly.

* The damage model includes the spine and the heart and other major organs. Spine/heart/headshots are instakills while major organ hits usually cause bleeding.

* You automatically will rest your weapon against cover, no need to manually mount the gun.

* Like in RO2, every map has an ambient temperature which affects how quickly the MGs heat up and cool off.

* The grenades for each side work accurately: the North's potato-mashers start to cook the moment the string is pulled, the South's M61s only start to cook after the arming lever is released. By default, players only let go of it when throwing the grenade but you can manually release the spoon with the middle-mouse button. Most people don't know about this so you can get a lot of sneaky kills with M61s.

* The RPG is somewhat realistic in that unlike in most games, the worst place to be when facing an RPG is on the other side of a wall, RPGs will do RPG things and kill through cover.

* Weapon recoil is mildly affected by how much ammo is left in the gun; less rounds left, more recoil.

Drewski's Kronk impression is too on point. Had me thinking Kronk was in 'Nam for a sec.

honestly the best vietnam shooter ever. I've played this game almost every month since it came out. One of the best MP games of all time.

I hope this video brings players back. Really just want everyone to experience it but also I don't want it to die out

Red Orchestra and Rising Storm were probably my favorite battlefield-like experience that I've ever played. saddly I can't imagine those games being released again and being nearly as anjoyable.

The thing I love with RS2 besides the gunplay is the fact that It's a team shooter game but both teams are so different yet it's still balanced! The South fighting armies got more modern & automatic weapons. They got air support that can be called in by the commander & helicopters (Cobra, little bird & troops transports) that can be flown by the team. They can also spawn directly on the squad leader. The North fighting armies got traps that they can place down, tunnels that work as spawn points & more sneaky commander support (an example is that the commanders can spawn all dead teammates on top of him, which is perfect to suddenly take a point or defend one that's about to be run over.). Sure this game ain't perfect but there's no other game like it, which is why I come back every now and then for a session of "Did that bush just talk?".

I've been playing this for months now, it really dawns on you how few people play this when you recognize the players name in the killfeed. Hope Drewski's vid can revive this game.

think this game has the most realistic hitboxes, the heart, spine, head, all one shots

18:09 You missed him by several inches because the scope is mounted to the left, the actual barrel is just slightly on the right, you'll notice this the closer you are to the target. Those 2 shots would've connected if you use the irons.

Rs2 is probably one of my favorite multiplayer shooter games of all time. it’s immersion is absolutely sublime and i believe rs2 has the best mix of simulation/ realism and arcadey gun fights that never get old! really wish battlefield took inspiration. could have made something teally cool

Some of my most memorable gaming moments happened in this game, particularly when you're defending or attacking the last point and the defenders are hunkered down and holding every angle. So fun!

I had sooo much fun playing this game. It's still got a small community of active players, but usually you don't find more than 1 or 2 servers, at least in Europe. Best Vietnam shooter ever, though. The atmosphere is unmatched.
I especially love it when your character starts talking during lulls in the fight. When you just sit there for a minute and your guy goes "I can't see anything! Charlie's gotta be out there somewhere" or "man, what I would do for a Joint right now".

EDIT: exactly like this!! 6:42
