A carbon w 2 to 4 pre and 16 I/o I would jump on b/c I am looking at Lynx Aurora N but they lack mon outs and mon controller features.

What do you think of the Pro Tools Carbon announcement? I think this is a great product for the diehard Pro Tools fans. What do you only I didn't need all these Thunderbolt dongles on my laptop.

The carbon comes with four ADC chips per channel... Apollo does not do this or will not give a complete straight answer regarding how they have implemented their converter chips in the circuits.. I tend to think with Avid working w/ DAD on the MTRX they incorporated some of what they developed into Carbon and MTRX studio. The HD I/o is still considered one of the best multi channel Ad & DA converters still today.

Cool vid and opinions. Apollo’s are nice I own one & use it everyday but they aren’t as accurate sonically compared to Lynx Aurora N, Prism, Avid, Apogee Symphony Mk1 & 2. The X16 is the flagship Apollo which I haven’t heard. Would love to hear it against the Carbon, Symph mk2, Aurora N etc. The Aurora N is priced very fair imo and they have shielded converter circuits per channel similar to what Avid is doing but even further towards refinement & sound quality.
