Singapore and Indonesia has one common thing in their unification strategy that prevented the mistake that was done by Malaysia: They didn't make the language of their majority population as their main language.

Singapore choose English, while Indonesian choose Bahasa Indonesia (which is basically localized Malay). Had they decided to use the language of their majority race (Chinese/Javanese), "Unity in Diversity" would become much harder to realize.
