It is interesting to consider, that some countries like USA don't develop certain technologies because the "necessity" is not yet there, but other countries which have a resource concern will invest heavily in it. So, the "survival instinct" drives certain growth.

As a Singaporean, this video has my seal of approval in how you covered my tiny country. It's interesting how a decade ago, people globally have hardly heard of Singapore. And now it seems everyone on Youtube is busy making videos on Singapore lol.

Thank you.

Singapore is honestly incredible, the Marina Bay Sands and Gardens By The Bay are like something from a different planet.
I visited in 2017 and every night I would walk down to the bay and just take in their awe-inspiring beauty.

The early Singapore government realised that its biggest resource were its citizens! I realise that not everything in Singapore is ideal, but the nation has without a doubt grown beyond imagination! Well done Singapore!

A country that put a lot of effort into its education system. With a good education system, everything else will follow eventually.

The late LKY took a Chinese philosophy “衣食住行” as the basic needs of a functioning society. People need “clothes” on their backs, “food” on the table, “roof” over their heads, “infrastructure” to move around (sea, air travel and local mobility-roads). Then to develop education for the next generation and healthcare. His draconian approach definitely irked the western media but he really could not make mistakes at that time. His vision for a new country and political clout with foreign dignitaries had helped SG to be a success.

Proud Singaporean here. Don't exactly agree with Mr Lee methods when i was younger but as I grow older, I start to see where he is coming from more and more

Numerous times, the word 'vulnerability' arises. Yes, it's about survival. Through Lee Kuan Yew, Singapore adopts the discipline of 'no free lunch' and takes step to harness its think-tanks in ensuring it can meet present and immediate future challenges. it's no-nonsense approach may not be well understood nor appreciated in countries with attitude of superiority or even claim exceptionalism.

Since childhood, I'd always enjoyed the social sciences. Lee Kuan Yew's vision and bits of his speeches have always lit a fire.

The intro with the visuals and the music is just perfect.

As a Malaysian neighbor, I'm so proud but envy and jealous at the same time. Singapore has achieved so much more with less recourses and opportunities. Proves that having a resilient and progressive government is the key to success than anything else.

One of the rare instances where a dictatorship actually worked towards their country instead of filling their pockets.

Singapore is amazing place! We got into a crash in a taxi and the driver delivered our luggage many hours later. Cannot say that would ever happen in Australia.

10:56 Raw (not treated) water is pumped from Johor to Singapore. Some is used for Singapore's needs, the rest is processed and pumped back treated water to Johor.

I think the biggest thing that you didn't touch on, is that in most countries, government companies or public housing is a byword for inefficiency, over bureaucracy, and overall being a bit trash.

In Singapore it's the complete opposite.

Here if you refer to a government company, they're trustworthy, efficient, safe, and almost always a better option than a private company.

And so many people live in the hdbs, not only because they're cheap, but because they're really high quality, and great places to live, not like public housing in most countries where the only reason you would live there is because you don't have enough money to afford a real place.

Honestly, your productions are so amazing! Literally, they are just perfect in every dimension. And I really love that you're going quality over quantity! My absolute favourite channel on YouTube, no doubt. Huge respects to you, it's simply awsome. And by the way, you just have the best intro this platform has to offer ;)

Lots of ppl watch "How Singapore solved xxx" videos and conclude that its not replicable in other countries because of Singapore's size/demographics/soft authoritarianism... etc, but that's just an unfair comparison to "regular countries" tbh. Singapore's policies are well worth studying to replicate on a city-government level, which is the scale of problems they were being used to solve in the first place
