@3:25 I have a story for you Matt.

I'm a medically retired union carpenter. Destroyed my back 21 years ago. One of my earliest jobs was renovating a school in downtown Portland, Oregon. (I live about 25 miles north of Portland on Hwy 30.) We were totally gutting this school building. There was a guy in a skid-loader driving his machine lengthwise through a wall. It was HYSTERICAL! The funniest part though was this long haired hippie from the 60s. He picks up a brick, chucks it through a window, then looks at me with the shit eatingest grin you ever saw. Says "I used to go to jail for this. Now I get paid for it. THAT'S what I call PROGRESS!!!

One of the funniest memories I have from a short but enjoyable career.

This is NOT a video of a lazy man!
Good work here, I must say, I always prefer to have poured concrete supporting structures/walls like this.
Thumbs up for sure!

You should be working with someone on this project. This building is a TON of work. I can't believe you taking this project alone! But a cool project none-the-less.

Man you’ve got some Balls! I built a half house two story extension, whilst working full time shift work. Had never laid a brick before. But I didn’t have knock out such a dangerous wall you did! Fair does Matt, well bloody done.

"Now the outside's inside and the inside's outside". That, my friend is an AMAZINGLY ASTUTE observation. I aerosoled my coffee on that one!

Just love watching you work. You remind me so much of my dad. He had an office job, but come weekends he wasn't afraid to get his hands dirty. He would plan a project, do his research and then tackle it himself. Good going there.

I wish you would have had a buddy with you for safety reasons I was watching when you had the big saw to remove bottom of the wall and wondering how you would react if you had a misstep ? Love to see old buildings renovated . Can't wait til next Friday! KEEP SAFE . I really like your personality 😃

I am enjoying watching this series, I enjoy building renovations myself.
If I were you I would have at least two more acrows under that steel beam, it is less likely to fall if one is bumped whereas with only two you have no chance if one gets knocked. I would also put some acrow props under the wall above the gap with stongboys at the top to avoid any risk of that brickwork falling.

Have become addicted to this project which I came accross by chance and am now following it in sequence. What a "one man" task you have taken on Matt!!! Your various skills and ingenuity are abundantly clear - nothing gets in your way of getting the job done, even where the exact equipment is not available. Great to see your "can do" attitude evident in every episode. You are an example to us all that almost nothing is improssible if you think it through and use the brains that God gave you. Bet your neighbours just loved you drilling all those blocks out and the rebar holes !!! (LOL)Looking forward to the continuing episodes. Cheers from Scotland. Stay safe and well.

Love the nod to the Tim Allen grunt! This project looks so overwhelming to me, but I sure have been enjoying watching your thought process through each step!

I really enjoy your videos, when part of my basement wall collapsed last summer due to a previous owner using only 4 inch block, yes 4 inch block, it was originally a crawl space on that side of the house and he dug it out to within a couple of feet of the original barn stone that actually held the weight of the house, and put up that shoddy wall to hold back the dirt needless to say we poured it solid 18 inches in some areas, poured walls are the way to go, keep up the good work

So Diesel Dude, It's good you did remove the first coarse of block, now the wall is sitting below the floor and the floor is helping the concrete from being pushed in by the earth like the cinder blocks did.
