If you want to migrate to Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, hold off on installing older Ubuntu Linux, it will be released April 25th, 2024. Ubuntu 24.04 LTS will have Kernal 6.8 (so your latest hardware will work).

One of the best features of Windows 11 was that it made me a Linux user. Thank you Bill

As a music producer I couldn't switch, plugins simply wouldn't work as they're not supported unfortunately.

After 14 years of working with Windows, I formatted my Windows PC and installed fresh Linux Mint on it. The PC is revived. Its 4GB of RAM seems enough for Linux Mint. Except for some random freezes, I haven't had any other issues with Linux.

Linux is just lightweight. When Linux is loaded, the CPU usage drops to 5%. In my Windows 10, the CPU would run upto 100% for 4-5 minutes after a system restart.

Not here to say " I use Arch, BTW.", but when I wanted to try Linux, Arch Linux was the easiest (since I was an Windows expert) and I use it alot for many tasks. Debian is also good since its ported alot and popular in use but a little bit more writing and thinking. If you are a Windows expert and want to try Linux, ArchLinux and Debian are good to start with. But most importantly, _It's FOSS_ .

Mint or Pop! OS.
Not Ubuntu, they are the corporate style Linux and they're going in a direction many Linux users don't like. I'm not an authority on it so do your own research. I tried Mint and I have it set up as a dual boot with Win 10 so when the time comes to completely kick Microsoft I am ready. Mint is pretty easy to use once you figure out how to install things and how to access file directories. There are very many compatible games for gamers and with Linux you are more secure and nobody is harvesting your data, it just does what you want it to and isn't anti-consumer.

Linux is much better than Windows for a while now. It is more secure, no spying telemetries, no force reboots, and loads of free quality apps built by passionate people around the world that just wants to contribute to the free open source software cause. Linux gives you full control over your system. You decide what to do unlike Microsoft forcing you to update. 😮‍💨

I understand people are change averse but Windows is changing too ! People are starting to ask why we need this endless redesign and more processing power to keep on doing the same tasks we did with Windows 7.

1:28 😅😆 Intel Xeon 3.7Ghz CPU 64GB RAM can't run Windows 11 and was advised considering purchasing new computer (as my old crap pc can't be controlled by MS). So i believe it 😁

The first thing i install to newly installed distros are nano and midnight commander. They make the command line way more useable for powerlame user like me.

I have your same rig but with a GTX 1050TI and my PC was supported with Windows11 officially from day 1. Why is yours not?

Honestly I would love to if Linux in 2024 had support for all hardware and laptops. Constantly some issue pops up. I understand that Linux has this idea of me fixing issues but god damn can I change brightness on my laptop please? I am tired fixing shit like this. Wayland same shit - you have RTX? Oh gosh, sorry for that, you will have totally broken windows in Fedora
