The mandates have to go. Sourcing these batteries from China was one of the worst ideas in the history of the State of Michigan. The auto industry needs to become completely independent of CCP influence.

Its also a passion of mine, once I heard the story of Henry Ford about his invention of the assembly line, and the affordable for every family vehicle.

Remember, Rump talked a big talk about helping auto workers and bringing jobs before -- BUT NEVER DID.

Didn't he also promise to save the coal industry?

I missed the part of his speech where he was going to actually do something for the Auto industry. Nothing to offer but blame and more insults.

Is he unaware that just about all "foreign" car companies (Japanese, European, Korrean) now have plants in N America? Also, during the glory days he refers to, the Canadian/US Auto Pact was in force (since the mid 60's), a precursor to NAFTA and USMCA.

My uncle, retired from ford in Michigan a couple years ago worked there For 36 years. Said Harris would crush the big three and would allow china to import cars into the USA. Save our manufacturing and gasoline cars.

Don't forget that the late '90s marked the beginning of globalism, and the automotive industry sent jobs abroad. If I remember correctly, pro-business Republicans were advocating that strategy. Now, if Mr. Trump really wants to address the issue; he may want to consider the tax loopholes that companies are exploiting by outsourcing

Fact 1. During Trump’s first year in office, motor vehicle and parts manufacturing employment in the U.S. declined from 788, 900 to 783, 200 in November 2017, and GM had a net loss of 3, 500 hourly manufacturing jobs in 2017.

Fact 2. Despite a 2016 campaign pledge to not let a single Michigan auto plant close, GM announced it would end production at five North American plants in 2018.

Who woulda thunk German, Japan, Korea would start building competitive autos once rebuilt after WWII. Looks like US needs diversity, equity, and inclusion to keep up. Big T calls it "wonderful tariffs".
