GeoCool Heat Pump Review - Issues - Buyer Beware!

Purchased from Ingram's Water and Air, this is my second unit and it has no refrigerant in it! Upon installation it shut down on low pressure.

My original unit lasted about a year before compressor and TXV issues dropped COP below 1. Went back and forth for 2 months, finally Ingram's agreed for me to buy a new unit for $4k, then they would buy back my old faulty one for a certain percentage of purchase price. After about 4 weeks my replacement arrived but was the wrong unit! Refused shipment and took another 3 weeks for the right one to arrive, meanwhile I've racked up 2 months interest on the $4k on the credit card.

All would be worth it if the replacement worked properly, but it was shipped without refrigerant!

I'll update the video after I call Ingram's tomorrow. For now, stay away from these GeoCool units - no service and no performance is a bad combination.

Please provide updates. I was seriously considering purchasing this same unit except the Horizontal version. My reservations have been there is very little info on the history of Geocool except they appear to be a new company. Also, spec documents are very few. There does not even appear to be a dimension sheet on the Horizontal units. Other manufacturers appear to have very detailed information at a simple Google Search. Geocool appears to use Copeland Scroll compressors which are fine, I just don't know about the rest of the components. Sometimes I feel sticking with the old rule 'you get what you pay for may be best."

I have two 3 ton units and I had to replace all the schrader valves on both because the refrigerant leaked out.

Never did come back and update this one. Ingram's gave me a full refund on the 2nd unit. So I will give them credit for that. It's disappointing a YouTube video had to be made to make them stand behind products they sell.

I purchased a climate master and life has been good since.

Hi there! I purchased a 3 ton single stage (vertical) unit from Ingrams for our house build (check out my channel for the videos of our house build). We were much more fortunate as we have had only one issue with ours which was an out of spec 24 volt transformer that was providing too high a voltage to the main controller board (about 32 volts) with a normal input voltage of 230 volts. This took a bit to figure out, thankfully the tech at Ingrams nailed it down pretty quick and we got it squared away. I would agree that there is a lot of Chinese components inside that shiny stainless steel box, but thankfully, that crappy transformer has been the only failure thus far for us. So far the unit has performed flawlessly, and we have been very happy with our purchase. So sorry to hear that you had so much trouble.

I purchased a 5 ton Geocool From Ingram's back in April this year. Have had basically same problem Compressor has locked up.
This is ridiculous owning the unit for less than 5 months. Also have had problems with Relays. Everything inside of the nice Stainsteel housing is Chinese junk.

You should take instructions from InpliX website if you want to learn how to make it easily.

Update:. Ingram's returned my call/email the next day and wanted to work with me to get it sorted out. did additional inspection and found a compressor line was broken. Even more disturbing is the black corrosion inside the line which indicates poor brazing techniques. Google "flow nitrogen when brazing AC systems" for more info on that.

Supposed to hear back from Ingram's today. At this point I'm doing all I can to get away from Geo Cool and into another brand. Somebody with factory technical support, which Geo Cool does not.
