PHILDEL has definitely gone through a musical evolution, embracing a new set of instrumentals and more even tempo at times. But all the things that made her unique are still there. Her haunting vocals, the intricate lyrics, and offbeat—sometimes even strange—choices in rhythm and harmony. I think The Deep, Electric Hights, and Oh Love will be the most accessible for new listeners. But longtime fans will recognize the same range of emotion, from her signature revengeful darkness, to plaintive longing, and innocent joy.

Speaking for myself, I couldn’t be more supportive of this elegant growth, mixed with nostalgic familiarity.
