Here I played what was actually played in the piano animation from The Aristocats - Scales and Arpeggios scene. The rhythm and general motion was pretty good though!
Comment and link me another piano animation for me to check out!

"Here's the footage of the guy playing the piano, now animate the cat playing it."
"But sir, cats can't stretch 4 octaves-"
"Did I stutter?"

They actually did a good job making it look/sound kinda accurate while still maintaining the "graceful" movement they're trying to portray.

This guy wont rest until he reviews all of the animated pianos scene

Even if it wasn’t played correctly, it sounds good

“Also understandable that a kitten can’t stretch 4 octaves”

We need some more of humor like this

All animators in the world are sweating because of this guy...

The fact that you acknowledged that the kitten was stretching all he could was adorable xD

Okay, in all seriousness, this is one where they should have had the pianist record the animation.
The played piece would be impossible for a kitten to play alone (as mentioned) and the actual audio to the animation sounds really good, which is surprising for an all-white key piece.

For the black notes, keep in mind that the PAL version (Europe and other parts of the world) always have the music increased by half a tone. The North American (NTSC) version would keep the music in C major which wouldn't have black keys

You know what would be hilarious? If they animated a character playing Never Gonna Give You up while using different audio, ultimately Rick rolling Amosdoll Music.

honestly they animated what would be anatomically possible for that cats body to play, and it was similar in intent so very impressive

Other animated characters: repeatedly mash tone clusters and it somehow sounds like actual music

Berlioz: does his best to play ascending and descending scales and arpeggios in a song called Scales and Arpeggios, and it sounds like scales and arpeggios, just in a different key

Hot take... I would argue that it is animated EXTRA correctly being that they made the closest a kitten could physically stretch over the piano playing that piece. They went as far as to redo it according to the cat's size. 11/10 in my book for the extra attention to detail.

I'm blown away that the 'what was actually played' resembles the piece quite closely. Good job animators.

The actual version doesn't sound that bad tbh

animators: should we animate this correctly?
other animators: yes, but no black keys.
animators: ah, great choice.

At least they put in the effort to make it mostly right in this scene, it seems they did the best they could but had to compromise a little to make the animation make sense. He played pretty good for a cat

what bothers me is that the sound in this clip is one half-step higher than it should be, meaning that it would be C major, with lots of white keys involved.

rayati

even then, the original still sounds pretty nice, unlike most of these where the original is horrific

CinnamonFudge

To be fair, In the original audio it really is in C major rather than C#. A lot of older media gets tuned higher pitched when transferred to online. I’ve noticed that in a lot of older YouTube videos from a decade ago.
