Freezing In A Ditch With Bullets Covering His Paralyzed Body

A Good Samaritan was driving down the highway when she noticed a large dark mass in a ditch a few feet off the road. She had a sinking feeling in her stomach so she pulled off the road to investigate. She opened her car door and found that the mass that was laying in the ditch was indeed a pup, who was tangled in rope and very evidently unable to move his body.

He didn’t cry for help when he saw her, he just lifted his head as if to say, “please help me”. His body was freezing to the touch, we later found out that he was laying there through the freezing rain for over 24 hours, completely paralyzed. The rescuer picked up his limp body and carried him to the back of her car- she knew she was in a race against time and there was no telling how long he had left.

She brought him to the vet and we were informed that his condition was even worse than they thought. This sweet and helpless pup not only had been hit by a car, leaving him completely immobile but it was discovered that he had also been shot multiple times, some old bullets and some new. We now realize that this pup (who we now call Austin) had been tortured his entire life, with the final bullet meant for his death, was located in his head.

On top of these horrors, he also is suffering from a broken rib and is extremely emaciated, it feels as if his list goes on and on. Though his diagnosis is heartbreaking, we are not hopeless. He will be cared for and monitored for the next few weeks, he has a 30% chance of walking again, and we will do whatever we can to make that go up.

We have quite the road ahead of us to try and undo what some horrible human did to him, but we are up for the challenge. It’s clear he has had to fight for survival his entire life, now we are asking for people to step up and fight with us FOR him. He has done enough, and now he needs to rest and recover from his traumatic ordeal while we show him an outrageous amount of support!
