The 63 was revised styling of Virgil Exner's 1961 car. It was de-finned in 1962 and then some alterations to the roof and rear back light window were made. Tail lights were changed for this year vs. the Flash Light Style of the 62. This car would see a body restyle in 1964 by Elwood Engel who replace Virgil Exner. The chassis would stay the same but the sheet metal would be revised. 14,121 Imperials were built in 1963 versus Lincoln's 31,233 and Cadillac sales gigantic figure of 164,174, for every 11 Cadillac built, one Imperial was sold and about 2 Lincolns were sold.

I'm an old Pontiac nut. But I'd take one of these in a New York minute!! Amazing car!! Craftsmanship that would make a Toyota or Honda look like a used kleenex.

Bring back the vent wings. You love cars and I'm glad. I appreciate your hard work sharing your videos. It's like a time capsule! Thanks!!

1962 and 1963 the most beautiful Imperial ever made. The front face itself is a work of art. Well sculpted car.

I wish I could buy a large automobile like this today. They just do not make these large 4 door automobiles.

I have a black w/ red leather '63 Imperial Le Baron (The badging is just Le Baron. It  correctly doesn't say imperial anywhere on or in the car) The only options it doesn't have are Autopilot, auto dimming rear view mirror (yes, Imperial had that option in 1963) and electric door locks. It drives like a dream! I also had a '62 Lincoln Continental convertible for 17 years and I do love the 61-69s, But I truly believe the Imperial to have been superior.  I have owned both Mercedes and BMW automobiles, I would rather drive my Le Baron.

On the flipside of how little imperial sales figures were compared to cadillac wouldn't that make you stand out more because you didn't follow the pack and bought something different?

Men wore suits and pretty women in dresses, who drove these cars.
White and black professionals.
Now you see slovenly dressed people driving expensive cars. Doesn't match, tacky.
