my case was completely opposite. i was always good in studies, but never a topper. with hard work i cracked GATE and joined IIT for M. Tech. Just by cracking GATE i developed immense belief in myself and suddenly started believing i can become topper. I continued my hard work and became one of the toppers. I think self belief is very important. If you have self belief, you will find ways to improve.

After wasting 5 years of my life(1year for IIT coaching+4 years in doing B Tech), I came to realise that Engineering was not my cup of tea and I was forced to do under societal influence or you can say mob mentality. That 4 years in B Tech course were very traumatic and troublesome for me. Now I am pursuing my Masters in History and want to be a good teacher.

This is exactly what I did in my jee preparation and as a result I failed not only in JEE mains and advance but every engineering entrance exam I gave. Now, I have dropped for another year had repeated the same approach but after your video of "Perfection Vs Excellence". I have started trying my best still my jee mains two attempt and bitsat is left. Hope to perform better. Thanks for your practical and realistic guidance. I'm always indebted to you.

This exact thing happened to me when I landed in Kota for my JEE preparation. From being a national merit listed topper to seeing students immaculately excellent in PCM in the P1 batch (Kota factory products can relate 😉), unfortunately I got so depressed that I couldn't ever recover perfectly, fortunately got into an NIT and a consultant now. This one lesson is something that every academically bright student MUST be taught. Thanks so much sir!!!

Don't chase perfection, chase excellence because in the range of imperfections, on the one extreme, there is an excellence that's what you and i should do!!! Great sir🙏🙏🙏

I am an IITian too and the video is quiet relatable with me as well. Everytime i found certain thing difficult, i procrastinate it by saying if it's not going to happen, then why should I try.
Thank you sir ur video is the must watching answer for it and one should admire it.

My story is different. I wanted to pursue physics, never cared for JEE/AIEEE etc. My father forced me to join Engineering and I got into a local college based on my board academics.
I am now in a top research lab abroad and never felt like I am anyway inferior to IITans/MITan/Oxbridge students I work with. It's all about in our head. We build our own demons or angels. But when you really love something and are invested in it whole heartedly, I believe your mind can't play these tricks.
Thanks sir for sharing your stories♥️

This goes the same for all the aspects of life: marks, relationship, career.

Sir, your story so very resonated with mine too. And now I see why after I got into G S Medical college, my performance was just mediocre. Thanks for sharing. Thanks for Habitstrong 🙏. It's never to late to start.

This is the main region I gained a lot of weight, well my body wasn't perfect like a body builder so I thought it was ok to not care of my weight. in this way I gained a lot of weight from 90 kg to 120 kg. Now I started taking care of myself, loses 25 kg and aiming to reach 75 kg overall

I have experienced this for quite some time now though not in academics. Thank you so much for sharing this sir. Knowing someone as great as you has experienced will surely help dealing with anxiety over the fact that how and why this happened with me only. Saying why and how we mess and acknowledging it to help others is highly appreciable.

While browsing youtube, I found this video that is resonating with me, the phase I am going through. I felt that I was not alone in this journey. You have well said that, one should chase excellence not perfection. I am looking forward to watch such amazing content 👌 and gain some insight from it .

Yes I can relate to this, During my prep I generally to go to Study early in morning like 7-8 am If some day I make it late by 2-3 hours around 10-11 am. I used to take the day off from study. Which of course was taking me away from goal. Then after some time I realized, either study for whole day or no study at all, this extremities are not going to help, and now I study if I get 1-2 hour in a day due to some other work. Now I avoid this attitude in all kind of things. And it helped me a lot

This is exactly the way how I think of life, thank you for sharing such valuable suggestion. It would be helpful if you can make one video describing what is excellence.

I paused the video, went to my daughter and told her, "Don't aim for perfection, aim for excellence." Of course with some embellishments. Rajan Sir, I did not tell them that it's your idea, I said as if I have somehow come up with this brilliant idea. Aaha, My borrowed Eureka moment!!
