The first lesson is about the Russian alphabet. You will find out what kind of vowels, consonants, and signs we have. Then, I explain the pronunciation and show how to print the Russian letters.

I will write in English today. Your English was clear. I understood everything. You pronounced э so clear that I now understand exactly why it's so difficult for Russians to hear the difference between pen/pan, bed/bad, men/man, etc. The sound of э is exactly in the middle between the 2 English sounds a and e.
I've noticed that we have the same problem in English. 'sh' is in between the 2 Russian letters ш and щ. It's very difficult for us to hear the difference, even in videos that are clearly trying to show us the difference. Therefore, we can't pronounce it correctly. I can do it now, but I think that the difference between ш and щ was the most difficult part of Russian pronunciation and listening for me. It took a very long time before I could even hear the difference.

I am an "intermediate" student, self-taught, all on-line. No classrooms, no actual teachers standing in front of me. But I begin with this lesson, to pick up any missing spots.

Я сам из России, и меня немного забавляет смотреть обучалки по Русскому языку. Но всё равно, очень интересно смотреть как Иностранцы обучаются моему Родному языку😁.

Thank you. I needed this. I've been putting off learning Russian because of the cyrillic alphabet, but this introduction made it feel less intimidating. Your English pronunciation is wonderful. It's clear, easily understandable and your accent is beautiful.

Thanks for this video! I don't know Russian at all. But this video is very clear. I don’t think it’s possible to teach the Russian alphabet better. I have studied some other languages, but never before the teaching for beginners has been this good and clear.

Very helpful video, you are a great teacher and really helped me on how to pronounce every letter (had seen some other people's videos but didn't help). Although I can say that for my native language (Greek) it is a bit difficult to tell the difference between Ц and Ч and also between Ш and Щ. Still, I will keep practicing, thank you a lot again for this excellent video! Greetings from Greece!!! 🇬🇷❤️🇷🇺
