What is this Strange Cable?

Trying out the new Knipex cable stripping knife in this PVC sheathed concentric cable. Used for LV electricity distribution in the Uk with TN-S earthing systems.

Simple! Si tienes que controlar por ejemplo 6 distintos dispositivos (luces etc) en vez de poner 6 cables tripolares pones uno solo y ¡listo!
Con esto simplificas el tendido y seguramente te cuesta menos

It's "split concentric". Line conductor in the middle, neutral/earth around the outside.

The utility industry in the UK counts neutrals as earthed metalwork, so under utility standards this can be burried underground without needing further protection.

BS7671 OTOH considers netural as a "live conductor", so as I understand it while you can use this cable in a BS7671 installation you have to basically treat it like you would T&E.

I have never seen a cable of this shape. What is the advantage of such a design over a simple cable with three conductors?

Have a silimar function on electricans knife...to get under the sheathing ...useless gizmo ...but bloody dangerous when it slips out towards you

Almost looks like a one phase supply cable. But why would anyone use that in the age of three phase power? Must be an old film.

Dumb question, i am not an electrician, but could you run ethernet in the same cable as your 230v? Or would there be interference?

It's definitely a current carrying cable, I'm pretty sure of it, oh....and is black on the outside.
