Skillet knows very much about spiritual fight/war. "Surving the game" was exactly what I had go through this yearr! Also this latest "All that matters" came out when there was happening those things in my life❤ And, this "Ash in the wind" - words are perfect to my situation. I really have feel things under my skin, there was a "mirror talking/ reflection* with some man and he thinks believers live inside the glass. With all this time it has been same man who caused me this... And now I'm thinking what I am supposed to do. I gotta break free from spiritual connection. Thank you Skillet, God bless!

One thing i love about skillet is their approach to the message in their songs. Most people ive spoken to about them is they take their songs their own way without feeling burdened or forced to listen to christianity. This song sounds like to me is being abused and obtaining the power to overcome abuse and the aftermath of leaving the abuser

The chorus is about putting your faith in Jesus, winning with devil and pushing all the demons and other bad stuff away ( " I can feel it under my skin, i was made for more than this, all your power disappears, like ASH IN THE WIND )

"where do those thoughts come from"? Good question. All throughout our history the greatest philosophers would ask those same type of questions too. "What is the point to life? Why am I here? Am I here by accident or by design? Do I have a purpose?"

How I see it in the Christian context; It's so easy to let life happen, to not be intentional in the day to day, to not focus on God's calling on our lives. Especially in American culture where everyone is rushing about, where everything has to be instant. Where we are expected to reply back to texts instantly, where we work and work until we are so physically and mentally drained, where we want to feel instant gratification in the moment so as to take our minds off of work or our troubles. So as Christians sometimes it's easy to go through the motions of the faith without putting into practice the way we are called to live. It doesn't have to mean we are called to be famous or to do some extraordinary feat like the heroes of the Bible (although maybe!), but "being more than this" can just simply be about not "letting life happen" and rather being intentional with our conversations, our time, and effort. Being who God called us to be rather than sitting in the dark and just "being".
