Look INSIDE an Amish Home (Graber Family)

Take a look inside an Amish home. This is the home of the Graber family in Jamesport, Missouri. Photographer Don Burke was invited to visit their home and took these images to share. I point out some of the interesting details we see throughout the home.

The board games, the well tended houseplants, the quilts- it seems like the home of a very close and kind family. My heart broke when I saw the tribute on the wall- losing a child at any age is so painful.

The quilting got my full attention. Would love seeing so much more about the quilting. I really appreciate the female side of Amish life. Quilting is the big one!!!

I can imagine the joy of chatting with friends over making a beautiful quilt. A handmade quilt is not only beautiful and warm, it's a work of community and love. A group of women in my town made a quilt, and it will be raffled off to raise funds for our library expansion. I'm sure the raffle will bring in tons of money, and the winner of the raffle will be delighted.

What strikes me is that how much more modern this Amish family is, compared to the Amish families that I know. Running water and a full functioning kitchen was a shocker to me.

I want to live like that I don't want an iPhone or tv just a normal home phone no internet just pray cook clean play games with family and friends I want simple life I'm tired of this life with all stress and hypocrisy I want peace😔

I liked the quilt and the fact that they get together and quilt, the puzzle on the wall because it's a beautiful picture, and birthday records.

The kitchen was very modern looking which really surprised me.

Wow a good mix of things. On the more traditional side I liked the quilt, the lanterns/lights, bibles and cookbooks, and birthday records. On the more progressive side I liked the gas stove, birthday balloon, and handheld games. I noticed she had 9 kids in 13 years and wow that's a lot!! Great video once again. Thanks for sharing!

My family has a our family Amish genealogy book from our Amish past family members. Even though we are not in the Amish now. It’s nice to be reminded of where we came from.

This home seemed more cluttered than the last home. It was still rather mundane but I think it showed more family relationships being important. The birthday balloon seems more garish for an Amish family. I do enjoy these videos, thanks.

That quilt being worked on is not on a rack. It's actually in a quilt frame. I had one of those for many years until we moved to a home with no room for one. Now I live in a small house, but we have a large barn out back. I do all my sewing on the 2nd floor of this barn. There's plenty of room for another quilt frame, but now I take my quilt tops to a shop that has a long arm machine. I used to go to Amish Quilting Bees a lot, but I haven't been to one in many years. I live in northwest Ohio, next to Lake Erie. Amish Country is a 2 and a half hour drive south. I love your videos! Thank you so much for sharing with us.

My grandma on my mom's side loved Sadako. I would buy her a book every time I went to the store (especially the Dollar Tree). I used to do them until my eyesight got worse.

I was quite surprised at all the 'stuff' sitting around..nic nacs, etc. I was under the impression they really did not go for a cluttered look..keeping perhaps just few cherished momentos in a special place. But I did enjoy the tour! Thank you!

I would love to see the community get together that would give instructions-inspiration in the kitchen or sewing. Like the sewing bees or cider making anything similar.

What stood out to me from an Irish perspective was that how normal it all is actually. With the obvious exceptions of the plumed in gas lights and the huge quilt making contraption, They stand out as pretty normal to me !
