For anyone who struggles to scan the chip :

1) locate your chip by :
Using flash light of your phone and illuminating the opposite side of your card, you will see a small black chip hidden in your card.

2) know where your device’s antenna are positioned, remove protection case from your device.




4)Activate Bluetooth and set AirDrop on “everyone can discover your phone in case of iPhone (I guess you have an equivalent system with Android phones)

5) Put your card on non metallic desk or any other non metallic support. Remove any metallic object near your card.

6) put your phone right on the card trying to position your phone’s antenna really close to the chip you have located earlier. You will see the Reading progression bar increasing then


Few seconds later it will be job done 👍

While scanning your BRP for the chip, remove your phone case it helps.

One thing you forgot to tell people is that if they use their BRP/BRC to apply for the eVisa they have to keep the number on the card somewhere incase they lose the card because they will need that number anytime they want to prove their status to anyone.

I just want to add that the details being deplayed on the e visa can be wrong but don't panic. In my case, my previous BRP status and details were being displayed on the e-visa and not the current one. So I rang UKVI, and they sorted it. They mentioned it's a common issue, so I guess it will happen to others.

One can also register for evisa without necessarily waiting for email from home office. As long as you have a valid stay permit.

Thanks for the detailed information.
I have two questions here. We have BRPs expiring 2026.
1) I’m the main visa holder and received the email for e-visa. Dependents (son and wife) does not have email in home office records because I was adding them into my visa application. May I still apply now for all dependents without getting email individually for them?
2) system ask for the expiration date of BRP. Should we add the real date of Dec 2024?

If you struggle to scan your document and get frustrated, there is an option to skip and that allows you to manually enter the details from your BRP on to the form..

This is much more informative than other videos that are full of waffle and buzz-words ; although evisa will be easier for UK Border Control, I believe it will cause problems at, for example, Bangkok airport where passengers will have to be fluent enough and IT savvy enough to show a share code, rather than simply showing a BRP which they keep with their passport.

UK cannot afford physical document for legal immigrants so they could travel visa-free to countries accepting UK residence & 3rd country passports. Most airlines or immigration officers abroad will not accept screenshots from gov . uk website which can be easily manipulated.

Great video. However if you wear glasses, Remer to remove them before you take your picture. I had several attempts and they even suggested that I would have to do it another way. Praise God I had the same information on my laptop and my phone. I returned to my phone where I had the notification and started from there after the trials on my laptop. It worked.

Hi, I done everything, but after I received email saying I can now access my evisa account, I can't get into it, it says, 'your status is not ready to view' !! Anyone else had this issue !?🤔

Lots of hassle and the result ? There is nothing to download to show later when flying 'visa free' to countries accepting 3rd party passports and UK residence. People on EUSS get a stupid share code. Good luck showing that to immigration officers in South America or Caribbean.

@NanelleGriselda so this is all fine if you're in the UK, but how on earth would this work if I'm in a third-world country and I need to travel to the UK, I have a passport from a foreign country not in the EU. How is the airport staff going to believe the share code, it's unlikely they are all trained on this new process.
