I’ve been in practice for years and have never seen this - thank you so much to both you and your patient for showing us this, I’ll be sending this to students and residents!

Very interesting information. The young lady appears to be well in tune to her body and the signs of an issue with her health. Your methodology describing this really makes it easy to understand for us non medical types.

I love this channel. I'm studying for the USMLE and a lot of the questions asked are often things I've never seen in real life. Seeing this and having a patient/story behind each pathology really helps. Thank you Dr.Mellick!

I have seen this twice in ICU. I keep an eye out for patients receiving multiple units of PRBCs because the units contain citrate which binds calcium.

My dad had been experiencing very odd facial twitching. We assumed it was progression of Parkinson’s. I watched this video after it was recommended in my feed and asked his dialysis nurse if his nephrologist could order a calcium level while at dialysis. Guess what!? Hypocalcemia. I’m sure they would have caught it soon enough without me asking but I’m thankful to have learned this so I could speed it up a bit.

The patient takes it all in stride and even has a sense of humor about it. It must actually be pretty scary. She has taken the time to learn about her health and condition. She will probably do a great job managing going forward. Very bright and mature!
