July 25, 2024
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. visited families affected by the onslaught of Super Typhoon Carina and enhanced southwest monsoon (habagat) in Valenzuela City on July 25, 2024.
Accompanied by local chief executives and officials from various government agencies, the President conducted a thorough assessment of the situation at the Command Center, inspected flood-affected areas in the City and visited the evacuation site at Malanday National High School.
The Super Typhoon, which intensified the southwest monsoon, has caused widespread flooding throughout the City, leaving many residents displaced and rendering major thoroughfares, such as portions of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) impassable. Despite ongoing relief efforts, several roads in Valenzuela City remain inaccessible.
Following the declaration of a State of Calamity in the National Capital Region (NCR), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has implemented a price freeze on essential goods across Metro Manila to prevent profiteering and ensure affordability during the crisis.
Additionally, the government has suspended work in public offices and classes at all levels in Regions III, IV-A and the NCR.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) continues to monitor the situation closely and is ready to mobilize further resources as required.
