It's interesting to hear the tone of the speech, it tells us a lot about the cultural attitudes of the german people in 1914.

My Great-Great-Grandfather was part of the Imperial German Army in WW1. It seems my family has a bit of a loose-win-loose streak, with WW1, WW2, and Vietnam war.
