My dream is a career in tech. But I have always been told I can’t do it because I don’t understand math and gaming is a mans world. I’m now trying to learn more about Python & write a blog to keep myself motivated. I have a social work degree (bachelor) and no money to do a new bachelor. I hope to once become a woman in the Tech field. If someone know any videos to watch or things to learn as a beginner please let me know.

Sadly, I have encountered much MORE gender bias in IT than in the biological science field in the last decade. It's pushing me toward going back to lab work, again.

Honestly... there are definitely *some* barriers working in tech - the biggest obstacle for me is actually the social aspects, like how it's such a boys club, how sometimes men dont take me seriously purely because of my gender. However, as a woman, I really dont think those barriers to actually GET into tech are as high as they're made out to be. There's a huge push to get women into coding, some companies have diversity hiring, if your heart is set on it, it's not really that hard to get a tech job, if you're okay with the sausage party that tech is.

As a woman and Latina in tech (Salesforce), I am the only woman in my company (in '20s), with 20 other men that have been dominating the SF world. This video was a great overview, it will take time to raise the numbers but we can do it!

I am a woman with a degree in IT but I couldn't get a basic entry level job out of college so I gave up. I also had a childhood diagnosis of autism, and one of the reasons I got the degree I did was because they were marketing it explicitly to autistic people (more autistic people in cyber security!) I wonder if the trouble I am/was having is because I am a woman, or if I was duped by false advertising designed to take advantage of autistic people. I am now still without a career and a future and am poor and suicidal as a result.

I've been into tech since like 3 years old because I've always been in love with gaming, but since 11 years old really into programming and there's never been times that I am properly discriminated against unless in a jokingly way, at least not in programming, it sometimes turns out that I teach men how to do it. However, in gaming yeah you get discrimination sometimes but it's not bad discrimination that often, like it's funny, plus once you prove them wrong they all bow down to you lol. I don't see why this is such a big problem, if there's a low percentage of women in tech then that's good news for women who want to go into tech, because they're going into a niche that is not that popular therefore they could quickly become very good at it, prove themselves and earn big bucks ;/. Plus I do prefer communicating with men more, often they are more understanding and more honest and easy-going so it is nice to be in such working environment ;//

despite so many scholarships, "women in tech " programs and reducing the standards of recruitement in coding tests ....if still women are not able to get into tech then they should rather focus on working as hard as the boys instead of complaining . in my college as well girls with 5/200 in coding tests are called for interviews but boys with 200/200 are not called for the next round . what more can be done .

I know one thing tech & the overall establishment are good at.

Weaponizing people against men.

There were hard truths here, but not the ones you think. Men are more willing and able than women to work 80-100 hours a week and move thousands of miles for a job.

THAT'S the hard truth.

Some jobs heavily consist of women (education, nursing, etc). That means you should expect some jobs to heavily consist of men to have an overall 50/50 balance in the workforce. Nothing wrong with certain roles naturally attracting one gender.
