This is actually a pretty fitting song for them. Unfortunately, both of them were way too afraid of what the Jedi Council and/or the Senate would say, if they actually openly told them that they could handle keeping their jobs, while also being married and having babies together.

As much as Padme did love him, I don’t think she really understood just how problematic the Jedi Order was in regards to Anakin until after he fell to the dark side, and Obi Wan’s first instinct was to follow Yoda’s order to kill him because they had been taught that once a Jedi falls to the dark side, there is no saving them, even if it meant deceiving her to do so by hiding out on her ship when she went to go see Anakin after finding out he fell to the dark side to use her as bait to lure him into a trap to kill him without her consent. Sadly, Anakin took her words of love as a lie and hurt her when he was out of his mind.

As for Anakin, he knew that the system was broken, but instead kept publicly deferring his his desires, moral integrity, needs, and sense of self to try to avoid potential abandonment from loved ones, fit in, and please everyone he loved by deferring himself so much that eventually he had a mental breakdown in RotS and turned to the dark side in his fear. Not that that’s an entire excuse for his crimes. He was absolutely selfish in his desperation to avoid abandonment, and he had enough of a conscience to ultimately realize that the crimes he committed were wrong. However, I also do agree with a lot of people who diagnosed him with C-PTSD, and I do agree that his options were very limited to nonexistent and/or unhelpful for safe escape, healthy support within, and proper mental health treatment within such consistently toxic environments under the thumb of such abusive, controlling, corrupt, and oppressive cult leaders and/or slave masters his whole life. Therefore, I do think you could make an argument for the diminished capacity defense in regards to Anakin’s/Vader’s crimes.

Now that I think about it, they are a lot like Romeo and Juliet. Anakin "dies" when he is told that Padme' is dead. Padme' dies of a broken heart. (or palps stole her life force for anakin)
