I like this version since it did not show Bligh as some crazy Dickensian, disciplinarian as the other ones did. He was just trying to keep control of a mostly conscripted crew. And as usual, another stellar performance by Anthony Hopkins.

Watching this doesnt even feel like a movie, it feels like real life and you're actually there

vangelis was so gifted, wrote so many great melodies (and songs). But this particular instance, what a great use of mood. A simple, pulsating DREAD.

The drunken doctor... yes, that was a very humorous occasion. Superb acting by Anthony Hopkins.

The soundtrack is so underrated. Even though it’s synth it weirdly fits as well

When the eerie music kicks in as Bligh addresses them. Chills.

Anthony Hopkins and Mel Gibson made this movie AWESOME! Both of them even topped Marlon Brandos film.

For the sake of the mission and the long term welfare of the crew, Bligh was right to insist on order and discipline. He understood that it was essential to ensure their safe passage home and the success of the expedition. The challenge for him was that the crew had a different perspective. Unlike the officers, they had little to look forward to back in England, only squalor and poverty and their first impression of Tahiti with its natural beauty and climate, not to mention the availability of all the lithe and semi naked girls, made a stark contrast. They would not have been thinking of the long term reality of living there with all its downsides. It is easy to imagine the dilemma and the difficulties it presented to Bligh.

For me this is Anthony Hopkins finest hour. How he never received an Oscar is truly dumbfounding.

Being a Royal Navy Sailor in the 18th century to the Napoleonic Era must've been hell. The commanders were ruthless and you could be flogged for any minor offense. It's also disturbing hence you find out they also kidnap random men off the street and force them into service.

The tension builds so well. Restrained direction and excellent score plus and very convincing cast. My only criticism is the story being told in flashback but it's just a very good film. When Hopkins and Gibson go head to head...wow
