I don't know whether I love his voice, either as a youth or as an adult, or his conducting, more. His Bach roles are too awesome for mere men to comprehend. One of his St. Matthew Passions (BWV 244), where he both conducted and sang the Evangelist's tenor is too fabulous to describe, it has to be experienced to even begin! His 6th piece in the 2nd cantata of the 6-cantata work Weihnactsoratorium, BWV 248, the tenor aria, "Frohe Hirten, eilt, ach eilet, " has heaven's wings! Gold standard!!!
