Jimmy Cliff is one of reggae's hugest icons, a living legend whose 1972 film The Harder They Come and accompanying soundtrack gave the genre its big break in the American market. It helped launch a staggeringly prolific career for Cliff who had already been recording and releasing music in his native Jamaica for quite a while by the time of the film's release. Kindly watch this episode to find out what he said to Bob Marley.

Jimmy Cliff played a significant part in the career growth of my band, The "MYSTIC REVEALERS". Our single "Mash Down Apartheid " was produced at his studio on Lady Musgrave Ave in Kingston and released on his "Oness" lable. His generosity toward us in giving us free access to his rehearsal room and recording equipment played a major role in our development and success. BIG UP, Mr Cliff. Love every time

Seen Jimmy cliff twice at two of the anniversaries of reggae on the river. 2003 wasn't expecting much of just other than a solid roots show. He blew my mind with energy and amazing vibes. 2014 was wondering why a ten years older 69 year old was closing a night. Blew my mind again with energy. Truly blessed to witness both those shows. Respect Jimmy ✊️

Thank you 👍 for highlighting Jimmy Cliff's Contribution to the popularity of Reggae Music worldwide. I was introduced to Reggie by Jimmy Cliff in the late 60's and he still holds a special place in my heart 💗 till this day. He also inspired me to change my name from James to Jimmy. His professional relationship with Bob Marley fills my heart with joy. Much love 😍 man! ✌️ Peace!

Magnificent songs about important aspects of life. The variety of topics coveref by his songs is untouchable even for Bob Marley. For example ; the environment, child abuse, family, peace, war, education and so many more. He is such a contemporary artist but under recognize.

Jimmy Cliff is one of my top ten musical artiste.

In high school in Africa, I grew up with Jimmy Cliff's music. Four decades later, I had the chance to see him perform live in Santa Monica, California.

I was in secondary school in Nigeria in the early 70s when I caught the bug of Jimmy Cliff. I heard a secondary school boy sing ‘synthetic world’ shortly after I heard ‘Going back west’ This was my absolute best Jimmy Cliff then and I quickly learned it by heart and used to show off singing it. I encouraged my dad to start buying Jimmy Cliff’s albums and knew them all. ‘Mother’ in house of Exile, ‘Under the sun moon and stars’ were some of my favourites. I was a bit unhappy when Bob Marley appeared. I saw him as challenging my favourite but after sometime I decided to like both. I saw Jimmy Cliff close up in Manchester around 1999 or so. Great show. I believe that he is the most underrated great musician of our time.

"Time Will Tell" is the GOAT. I was in High School in Sapele, Nigeria, when it dropped in 1969. I'll never forget the memories. Thanks to Jimmy Cliff, the King of Reggae!!!
