Now, we’ve spent lots of time in their all-wheel drive, five-door Polestar 2, having tested it in 2021, and a year later when a two-wheel drive version arrived. But, EV updates are coming quickly. So, let us be your guide for all that’s new with the #Polestar2. #Volvo #Polestar

Geez I can't believe i used to watch him in the 80's as a kid! I had always dreamed of doing a job like his! LOL

Have had my Polestar 2 for 3 years. I’m 5’8” so the cockpit is not an issue. Wonderful not having to use and spend tons on gasoline from big oil. I charge with Level 2 at home. The build quality matches my 2014 Lexus GS 450h. The car has been trouble free, minimal moving parts. It’s our daily driver up to a 300 mile radius. Definitely sold on EV.

Small tweaks but feels like a big improvement. Pretty incredible that with EV architecture they can easily turn a FWD car into a RWD one!
And the kind of odd proportions of the sedan-on-stilts look may have been ahead of its time, looks good now sharing the road with Toyota Crowns etc. Always great to see you, Mr Davis - a decades long fan.

I love the polestar 2, and since its essentially a volvo i would feel much safer and confident in the overall longevity of the car

😂 It’s hilarious how some people seem offended that a car review channel is reviewing a car just because it’s an EV.

Was meant to be a Volvo s40 sedan, the sister sedan to the XC40. Volvo didn't use the body so Volvo's sports division, Polestar, spun off into its own company, used it. It's an old chassis but Polestar has done a good job of it. For the age of the chassis and that it isn't a ground-up BEV, it doesn't pretty well.

I just find people don't know what Polestar is. There have been Polestar tuned Volvos for 15 plus years in the form of the s60 Polestar and XC60 Polestar. They had the same adjustable Ohlins shocks, Brembo brakes and even gold seatbelts and brake calipers that the Polestar 2 performance version has. Polestar builds fine cars because they're Volvos. They're not some "Chinese startup" created by "Geely" like some people think. First, ZGH (Geely Holding) owns most of Volvo and Polestar, not Geely Auto. Second, Volvo spun off Polestar so the development of the car and lots of its sourcing is pure Volvo. All but the Polestar 4 are Volvo based. The Polestar 3 is a Polestar engineered and designed Volvo and the 5 and 6 will have even more tuning from ex-Lotus engineers but Polestar has developed an aluminum bonded platform for it. The Polestar 4 is based on the Zeekr001 and that's a joint Swedish-Chinese venture. So whoever calls this Polestar 2 "Chinese" is mistaken. Yes, it is built there in a Chinese plant but it is Swedish engineered, crash tested, tuned, designed, and spec'd and the development of it comes out of Gothenburg, Sweden. Polestar is a Swedish company with a Chinese parent company. This is a European car.

I have an EV an Ariya (plus a Toyota Tundra) I looked at the Polestar 2 performance and really liked it. I didn’t like that my local Volvo dealer wouldn’t touch it and I would have to take it 130 miles away to have it serviced or repaired.

The P2 handles very well and the tuning for power is intense! Best build quality I’ve owned by a mile and way better than any of the Teslas I‘ve been in. I will say though that the depreciation is high for EVs so make sure to buy a CPO or lease new instead.

My S60 Recharge, best of both worlds. 101 mpg since Nov, ‘22, ~$35/mo to 110V “trickle charge” overnight, av 99 g of grnhse gases per mile vs 319 from the av 2024 ICE.

I absolutely love the philosophy of this car. The space is actually used as well as it can be used. The front seats have a nice and neat feeling of "everything is nice and close" without feeling too crammed, the backseats have enough room, but still no room is wasted and the boot is nice and large for a hatchback.
Ioniq 5 and ev6 are both bigger while having less practical trunks (for my use) and all the space is just empty air in the cabin which is just a waste in my opinion

In your EV vehicles, can you include the cost of the national average cost to charge the vehicle? Both home charge and at a station from near empty to full charge ? With the time it takes for that full charge?

I test drove a 2024 the other day...I really wanted to like it but I had ergonomic issues. My right knee hurt when resting upon the center console...is was mostly due to the design having a sharp indent. My left knee rested against the mesh on the door insert and felt like sandpaper. I couldn't pull the armrest up far enough (with a drink in the single cupholder) to comfortably rest my shoulder. I'm 6'0 and 185lbs. I just couldn't get comfortable.

The test car also had a busted armrest - I understand it's an abused test car but that really shouldn't be the case on a brand new car.

The lease deal would be the only compelling thing to get this for

The 0-60 and quarter mile results are significantly worse than I'm able to achieve with the same version of the car. I'm guessing the tests were done with less than 50% charge. I've gotten 12.4 in the quarter and 3.6 (with rollout removed, or 3.8x without removing rollout) for the 0-60.

How the heck does it look like this video was made in 1993?

Couldn’t do it - I felt like I was watching a Rick Steves video

I figure EVs are inevitable. You’ll still be able to drive gas cars in the future but they’ll become more and more expensive to fuel and maintain as gas stations and repair shops go out of business.

As an EV driver myself, driving around town seems superior the the 4cyl vehicle I had previously. It’s smooth, quiet and powerful. Charging is a breeze at home.

The only pain points I see is that road tripping is slightly more difficult but that will change with charging stations being added. Rental properties will have to add more chargers than present or they’ll be forced to accept lower rent.

My 2 cents.

Can the Polestar 2 charge at a Tesla charging station?

Remember when Volvo was some of the most reliable, dependable, durable, and practical turbo and n/a bricks around? Oh, the good old days. Now their sister company is one of the most unreliable cars on the world.
