1980 I escaped then Czechoslovakia. I was 16. The tipping point was my uncle being imprisoned for writing a letter to authorities because no hot water in February year after year. We were absolutely controlled and not able allowed to speak. We were equally poor.

Three friends and myself decided to escape by running through the barriers to Austria. In the depth of winter March at about 3am we ran through the barbed wires being shot at chased by dogs and border guards.

Two both age 17 were shot and murdered. Jan who was 18 was caught and imprisoned till 1991.

Alone being the best runner alone made it across and walked 3 days north of Wien (Vienna) i took an open air freight car sleeping 9 hours as it travelled westbound to north of Munich.

Two German policemen found me and helped me with asylum. I remained in Munich living with one of the officers who was a WWII combat veteran. He told me about the French Foreign Legion. on my 18th birthday in 1982 I travelled to Aubagne France and enlisted serving till 1997.

Most of my deployments were in Central Africa were socialists were destroying those regions.

Retired from service and was in Nice France were I bought a laptop and started an online business at the start in the internet.

Capitalism has provided a good life for me. Retired in Bulgaria 🇧🇬 now.

So let me get this straight... if I start a business in my garage, working tirelessly day in and day out...and it grows and grows, and I am able to employ people to help me, and it continues to grow until I make a profit of millions per year, because I was successful, I'll be penalized and have my "wealth" and business confiscated? The reason why communism ALWAYS fails is very simple, and it’s that it entirely revolves around trying to deny the existence of basic human nature, while using every mean necessary to dominate and bend it to its will. This process cannot be done without an extreme amount of oppression, which makes every communist society ever a place where the human being is suffocated and simply doesn’t want to participate… resulting in them being coerced to participate through maniacal control and with the constant threat of violence.

Moreover, when people brought the argument that “communism has never worked”, I used to give the very communist answer “because it was never done just right”.
Well, after years of thinking and reasoning, I realized the true meaning of those words.
When I said that Stalin, Mao, Fidel Castro and Pol Pot didn’t apply “real communism” and got it all wrong, what I really meant is that if I had been the all-powerful dictator, able to control the meaningless lives of millions upon millions of people, I would have known what to do to apply “real communism”!

That’s one of the most arrogant, despicable, and all out EVIL reasonings that a human being can do… especially because I myself back then (like every other communist) would have been furious at the thought of living under a leader that considered me in such a way, ie completely devoid of any individual human value!
And yet I was completely oblivious to it, and like every other communist I just played with the lives of millions of people just like me in my head, dispensing censorship, control, and forcing them to think and act how I wanted in order to create MY “hypothetical perfect communist society”…

The sheer disgust of this realization ate me up from the inside out, it brought me to study more, and after years of increasing doubts it led me to finally leave the Party (in my nation the communist party is a force to be reckoned with, it’s not like in America), and I couldn’t have made a better choice.

Now I’m an immigrant living in Texas, I can’t vote yet (not a citizen), but I tell my experience to all the American leftists I meet, hoping that at least some of them will realize just how awful the poison that they drank actually is 🇺🇸❤🦅
