An important and not mentioned affect of early leading with your hips is that if you do this properly, your body weight will have shifted to your front foot and you have a much better chance of striking the ball first before the ground.

It is the single most important aspect of the swing that no one every really talks about. Moving your body in 2 different directions at the same time. There is no STOP at the top of the backswing, your lower body is already moving forward before you complete your backswing. This is the movement that makes every great golfer look so smooth. I picked this up in a book years ago. No magizine or book talked about it. Changed my game forever. When I suck at hitting a golf ball it is almost always my timing that is out of wack and I go back to doing this and all is well. It should be the first thing you are taught.

I went through a week long period where I couldn't hit a ball for shit and was so frustrated cause I couldn't figure out why it was happening, I took your advice and put an alignment stick through my belt loops so I could visually see what my hips were doing and it helped tremendously. Not only did it help me keep my hips down but now I am able to keep the separation and lead with my hips properly. Will be implementing this drill every range session from now on.

I'm convinced that this hits the nail on the head with my current swing woes. Hitting fat with my wedges at least 1/3 of the time because I'm not getting my lower body forward enough by the time my arms deliver the club to the ball. I guess I need to get myself an alignment stick and start wearing shorts with belt loops when I go to the range.

From months of trial and error I've learned that hip rotation helps me shallow the club and needs to initiate the downswing. Before learning this I've always tried to force my arms down but this caused many fat shots, shanks, and pulls.

Great insights. Though I notice you have a very short backswing. If you have a full shoulder turn this requires proper timing to hit proper shots

What REALLY helps me without even thinking of my lower body is this thought:
"Keep your arms together!" In other words to keep the elbows the same distance apart.
Another thing is to keep a soft grip with my right hand (RH player)

Lead hand pinky finger contract at the top of the back swing and firm grip with the lead hand. Automatically bows the wrist nearly like Rahm when you do this. Just how the hand anatomically works. Wrist extension....
Lastly pick up your swing speed with confidence! Helps you move through the ball, hips leading naturally through the down swing.

very difficult to start reverse of hip turn before completing backswing with arms. Your other video with practice analogy with cooking is good except if you cook at wrong temperature😢 find it difficult to find bottom swing arc same place ie variable club face contacts espec fairway woods and driver . enjoymyour videos.

That was my big problem. I wasn't leading with the hips. There is so much emphasis on the plane and the arms that I wasn't leading the down swing with the hips. I am really looking forward to this season. Thanks

Lots of my bad habits over the years, has come from sore left hip. This causes poor compensations and early extension! ⛳️. Thanks for drills too get back on track.

This is great. Do you think think this drill can help with phantom ball syndrome? My swing looks great when there isn't a ball in front of my club. As soon as there is a ball there, I start to release early.
