I know I have been in this spot before and still struggle here because of my past I am ashamed of. and I have asked plenty of times why did I go through these things. if there is anyone who carries the burdens of guilt, shame and feeling unworthy and undeserving of grace and the love of Jesus Christ let me tell you this. NONE of us are deserving but that is the beauty of God's grace. His love is way beyond our understanding. and I encourage anybody who is struggling with guilt to give your burdens over to Christ who cares for you. and another important thing to remember is you MUST FORGIVE YOURSELF! I have gone through depression and serious self hate over my past but was reminded of God's crazy love for us. We dont need to carry these burdens of our past. The enemy wants to rip away our joy. dont let him. God loves you no matter what you have done and can and wants to use you. dont let your shame hold you back from God's great plan for you. i have a particular sin. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose. Everytime I fail I get ashamed before God because I repeated the same sin again. Im struggling with sexual desire and pornography. I am not ashamed to share it with you guys. Please pray for me. I want to live holy for God, but in some way I gratify the lust of my flesh. I read this situation in romans 7. I also read in Galatians that we should not use our liberty to gratify the lust of flesh. Sometimes Im having a doubt if I am saved because of this struggle. :( But Im still hoping in Christ. :(

Thank you beyond words. I want to restore my relationship and fellowship. I have been in disobedience and abusing Gods grace, I want to want him more and get back to obedience, not for salvation, but for reverence and love for what he has already done. Praise God

Great message. In answer to your question, addressing someone dealing with sin and shame. First, I would find out where he is in his walk with God, and also I should not be in the least judgemental if/when he reveals his sin or transgression. If he is a Christian, I would remind him we all fall short, and Jesus paid the price for all of our sins. I would ask him if he has have repented (from the context, it seems he has been convicted) If he has not, I would ask to lead him in prayer, and allow him the opportunity to pray, and speak out loud his sins, as well as asking for forgiveness. Again, I would remind him Jesus paid the price for his sin. And share 2 Bible verses. Psalm.103:12 tells us, "as far as the east is from the west He removes our transgressions from us" Hebrews 8:12 tells us He will forgive our transgressions and remember our sins no more" It is imperative we believe this and "let go of this burden" My question to you Pastor Parr, How do you counsel someone who has confessed his/her sins asked for forgiveness....but cannot forgive him or herself?
