If you love your dog, keep it on the leash.

He ''loved'' that dog yet allowed it's ears to be mutilated...Unreal.That too is animal cruelty.

Unfortunately, you have to be responsible for your dog; some ppl are deathly afraid of dogs. I'm a veteran with an emotional support pup myself and he's only 10 lbs, but I don't let him out of my sight when outside.

Why was this dog not on a leash? Dog owners need to be held accountable, the world doesn't want to deal with your dog or your problems.

My first inclination would be to call the police. Not wait until the next day

Your dogs are supposed to be on a leash at all times. I feel sorry that that happened to the poor animal but you are supposed to have your dogs under your control at all time.

I agree...if this employee's story is true and he shot in self-defense he didn't need to stand over the dog and shot it in the head 3 times.

Seems like a nuisance dog that was out looking for a bullet.

I have a dog. I love him to death. But George is 100% responseble. Dont blame others. Dont let your dog walk free unles you know someone you trust is watching him. My dog is very nice to everyone, horse and kids but if they runhe wil get them.

You know it's your fault when you called the police the next day.

It is heartbreaking that he lost his emotional support dog. BUT as someone who has been chased by pitbulls 3 times within the past15 months (and 2 within 48 hours) I will say that dog should NOT have been off leash at a business to do it's business. Other people don't know your dog. Your dog doesn't know other people. Your dog is territorial. It's your responsibility to your dog and to others to have full control of that dog all the time. No matter how many times the dog was shot, protection starts with the owner. Otherwise people are gonna protect themselves.

Dog needed to be leashed. Really can't fault the other guy for shooting it. Sad situation I love dogs😢

"George wants someone held accountable". Look at the man in the mirror George. That's you.

Your dog needs to be on a leash. If it's not on your property. Or in a dog park. Sucks for your dog, but people need to control their animals.

I'm not trying to be insensitive because I love dogs and I feel this man pain but he has to take some accountability. Your dog is your responsibility. Don't allow your dog to go off without your supervision especially at someone else's house. You can't expect somebody to know how your dog will react and to be fair that is a big dog. The guy who shot that was overkill.

Your dog is your responsibility. If you can't control it, you shouldn't own it

Was the dog off leash? Some people are afraid of dogs and cats.

I'm so sorry this happened to the man and the dog. I cannot understand why the dog was off leash in public at a business out if the owner's sight, though. This is the problem with "emotional support" dogs. They're not trained like service dogs. However, they should at least have gone through an advanced training program and gotten their Canine Good Citizen's certification and never be left alone in public out of the owner's sight. A real service dog would never have barked at anyone in public like that. This 100% was not the dog's fault but unfortunately, the owner does bare some responsibility. Please don't take you dogs in public and leave them off leash unsupervised. Bad things can happen.

Shoulda been on a leash. This would've never happened. I'm sad for the dog, he should've had a more competent owner and this would've been avoided
