Best part of the beginning scene in my opinion is when the Thestrals appear after George dies

Sadly I can't help but feel like the whole opening scene and intro to the game was actually the best part, especially the opening dialogue. It felt like it pulled you right in with the dialogue and atmosphere, then it kind of faded away as the game went on. I would like to see train travel in the sequel and a broader open world with actual cities and landmarks like London in the same period.

I literally started the game 10 mins ago and immediately got annoyed that the horses didn't load. I was cursing the game's bugginess until that Dragon scene revealed the ones flying the carriage. 10/10

My first playthrough I thought it was just magic carriage and was confused on when they appeared until later on they explain it. I never watched the movies or read the books. On the second playthrough it clicked that's the moment your character first sees death

ilove the details. especially how you see the beasts flying the cart only after seeing the dragon killing the man, meeting the requirements of only seeing it after witnessing death

An article on Inverse really bashes this but I was really impressed by it. In my opinion, contrary to the article author, it managed to slip that Threstral explanation in without removing from the scene- and it did so very effectively.

Hopefully that person was just hard to impress- and 10 years back I'd have naturally came to that conclusion rather than wondering if bad faith is involved- and hopefully they didn't join the likes of Wire in the'I don't like the creator so their works are objectively bad' applied *philosophy* when it comes to writing reviews (but was the Wire reviewer even at an age where they might have a "'never meet your hero' realisation? They seem completely unfamilier with the concept?)...

...Although the widespread attitude of 'I shall project my values onto those of my idols and anyone associated with them. They cannot do bad. Their enemies cannot do good' is alarming for what it says about the human race.

Also, Mikey, if you're reading this- get your own account. Your choice of videos and comments are making me look much more vacuous than I want to appear.

The game has some shoddy writing but the opening is one of the most well written events in the entire franchise. Establishing the plot, the ominous forboding hints of whats to come ect. i could go on but i'll end with the thestrals, it's simply just brilliant they did this in the attack. not only does it later down the line allow us to get our own thestrals without having to see another death, but it really is a powerful symbol for the death of a charecter that we only see shortly but is rather likeable.

As soon as I saw the carriage take off into the air, I thought "I bet there'll be a plot point in this game where I end up being able to see the thestrals." I didn't realize it would be so soon 😅

I'm not sure, and honestly, I pray I'm wrong, but I think just before the dragon bites down, you can hear George screaming. The score drowns it out a bit.
