Geometry Lesson 7.4: Similarity in Right Triangles

This lesson covers the situation in which an altitude is drawn from a vertex in a right triangle to its hypotenuse, dividing it into two right triangles. This is the altitude on hypotenuse theorem. We also discuss the geometric mean. We show that proportions as well as the geometric mean can be used to compute the missing sides of a right triangle in these cases.
