Hey it could well be the soil and could also well be compaction on the road side. Hard to go back in history and see what may have hapened. I see your taller trees (eucalyptus?) are also much shorter. I've often seen row ends with much less growth, even in corn fields. Maybe the effect is an influence of the old treeline but if there are exceptions along the line maybe you could consider soil as well. One other possibility could be that adjacent trees protect or support each other along the row but those on the end don't have that effect. I enjoy and follow your channel but agree larger video format with horizontal frame would show much more.
