This is a nice video about the basics. It may seem simple, but people should consider carefully before starting a business. A franchise is a good choice because they have a proven system, name recognition, prepared marketing, and buying power to get lower prices for their franchisees. My best advice would be to get an entry level job in a restaurant and try it out for a while before investing... good luck!

Summary

1) Always try to open in a crowded location like malls, universities or metro stations.
2) Health regulations need to be taken into consideration at all times.
3) You don't need to have the classic fast-food dishes in your restaurant.
4) If you don't buy a franchise you need to come up with a good serving system.
5) A food truck can be a lifestyle of travelling and cooking.
6) Marketing helps you bring in new clients and promote offers.
7) Offering more than minimum wage can bring you better employees.
8) Food spoils easily and that means less profit for you.
9) Creating the menu can be in your favor if you do it smart.
10) Listen to what your customers want and order.
11) Depending on the country you are in your menu will have to adapt.
12) Customers can be very rude or whining so be prepared.
13) It's hard to find good employees that will stick with you.
14) Profit is made by selling more products and minimizing waste.
15) Don't try to get in the delivery wave.
16) You can test your idea with a pop-up location.
17) That's it.

I've found 16 is the most interesting insight

I wish fast food restaurants were a little bit more health-conscious for their customers instead of focusing only on profits.

I am thinking about a new type of restaurants: eating-spots
in eating-spots, food keeps changing, chefs also rotate
this is opposed to current restaurants,
thanks to this rotation of food and chefs, eating-spots are more powerful than restaurants,
along with that, there is an app,
people vote for the food that will be cooked in the next days,
menu is influenced by the live input of the people via an app

Hey Alux.. Another interesting video... I would agree completely about Adapting to different geographies as in india food preference changes in every 200 kms or so hence creating food items as per local taste is the most important point.
