Bernie Miklasz Show: Tribute to Brady Cook

Missouri completed a 10-3 season Monday with a 27-24 comeback victory over Iowa in the Music City Bowl. In the center of the action, leading the charge back, was senior quarterback Brady Cook. It was wonderful to see Cook close his career with a win that personified all of his positives as a person, a leader, a competitor and a quarterback.

In today's video, I offer a tribute to Brady Cook -- a Mizzou True Son and proud St. Louisan -- for his special career at Missouri. I also discuss why Cook finished his career as one of the top quarterbacks in Missouri history, a and I made an attempt to put MU's last two seasons in historical context. Congratulations to Coach Eli Drinkwitz and all of the coaches and players that led the way to 21 wins since the start of the 2023 season.

Everything you said about Brady captured him. He won that game yesterday. He survived big hits and the new wideouts' drops. His ball handling was top-notch, and you could see the team responding to his leadership. One thing I really liked was his using the area of the field between the hashes. I don't know if that was part of the game plan or if it was just Brady, but it was spectacular and out of the ordinary. We seemed to use the sideline on most all throws during the year. He is the ultimate "lunch pail blue collar QB."
I was at Mizzou in the 70s so I have seen a ton. He is in my top 5 QB's when considering his ability coupled with his leadership quality.

Hey Bernie, that was a great take on Brady, absolutely will go down as a tiger legend, one little sideline that you didn’t mention and maybe I missed it if you did, two time SEC scholastic player of the year only been done three times in the history of SEC, he was just as tough in the classroom!!! And I just think back of all the quarterbacks they kept rolling out to compete against him, bazelak, Macon, Horn, but the kid just kept going! Congratulations to you another great piece

As an alum of their rival Cyclones, I thoroughly enjoyed the Hawkeyes defeat at the hands of your Mizzou Tigers! Happy New Year, Bernie!

Hey Big B;

Congratulations to MIZZOU nation and there win over my beloved Iowa Hawkeyes.

That was a fun game to watch. I did not give Iowa much of a chance to win as they have had QB issues it seems forever.

That said, Brendan Sullivan performance against MIZZOU was the best I’ve seen by an Iowa QB in a long time. He a had a pretty balanced day passing and running.

So I say all that to say I was impressed by MIZZOU’s resolve led by Brady Cook to do what they had to do to overcome injuries to their receivers and play well to score 27 points against a good Iowa defense!

Well, 2024 is about to become history.

Betnie; I wish you a happy holiday tomorrow and a Happy New Year in 2025! I look forward Watching “The Bernie Miklasz Show” in the up coming new year!

The Lord bless you and keep you!

Great channel Bernie, every show is truly excellent your love and knowledge of sports always comes through. You don’t have to follow the teams you talk about to enjoy your perspective and passion. Being a fan of all sports as I am, I can’t truly appreciate your take. And even when someone brings up contrary points as I did regarding Arenado you listen and consider the overall position. I have become a regular listener and enjoy each new show. Please keep up your wonderful work.

Happy New Year Bernie, this video made me smile, a great tribute to Brady Cook. When discussing Mizzou quarterback legends, I will go back to my Collegiate days starting in 1978 and state my Mount Rushmore of QB's to be Phil Bradley, Brad Smith, Chase Daniel and Brady Cook. And there was no one better when it came to toughness and leadership then Mr Cook.

Being human is part of what makes an athlete special if we fail to understand that how can we identify how much they have strived to succeed.

I go back to last years Cotton Bowl when Brady had just gotten absolutely LAID OUT by i think Ohio State's star linebacker. As he was throwing on the sidelines to try and overcome pain and injury, Theo Wease Junior came looking for him on the sideline and stated "You're a DAWG 12, You're a DAWG 12, You're a DAWG"...Theo knew a tough son of a b/tch when he saw one. Respect to my favorite wide receiver Theo Wease Jr, amd respect to the DAWG Brady Cook. Im sorry i ever doubted you!

Cook is a fine human being with a huge heart. Even when he wasn’t playing his best we all knew he was giving it all he had. I hope he gets a shot at the pro level.

Happy New Year Bernie! Not sure how many players could have laced them up and played the way Cook did! Kid just fought and fought and did whatever he could to help that team win! Hope he gets a shot somewhere else after his college career!

I just went over to Ranker and looked at the top 25 there. There are some minor quibbles that could be made on who is better or worse than the adjacent one, but the only real omission here in the comments is Paul Christman. Gary Lane was important to the success of the mid-60s, and someone, maybe Taylor?, led that 1960 team to #1. John Cherry led the giant killers of the early 70’s. I don’t know how those stacked up against recent qbs, but wasn’t Christman a Heisman finalist?

Terry McMillan was from Florida I think, and played JUCO in Joplin. Steve Pisarkiewicz went to my old high school in Florissant and I couldn't pick between him and Woods. Both good QB's.

Love St. Louis media ignoring Illinois. Bernie's done it his entire career.
