The beginning of the end for newspapers was in the 1950s when the networks began their nightly news programs. Both rely on advertisers and advertisers pay based on how many eyeballs see the ads. Subscriptions for newspapers have been falling for decades, Now with the internet people are finding new sources for "news" and the advertising dollars are following the "eyeballs". The old media will level off at some point but it most likely be below what is needed to pay the bills. They will either adapt or just shut down.
