for everyone who thinks its complicated, let me explain it for you

whatever you do will not count as step as long as you dont hold the ball with 2 hands, having the hand exactly under the ball, and look like you gripping the ball for to long

That was clearly legal. This is one of the few that’s clear as day. He really only took 2 steps to begin with. His step bac was in motion with the bounce of the ball which is smart, because of how he bounced it before he stepped forward, when he stepped bac he didn’t have to touch the ball because it was still in the air. Perfect timing and a genius move

Thank you, i thought i was insane, my coach and teamates kept telling me i couldnt lift up my pivot to pass or shoot, Id lift it up to spin around my other foot and shoot and they thought it was a travel

I think the disagreement is about when the ball is gathered. There were two extra steps that could very well be counted there depending on the point it's gathered.

I never got the lifting the pivot argument for these plays… because how else can you do a jump shot without lifting your pivot???

Honestly… this is the first time I’ve actually ever seen an NBA player not travel so props to the dude!

For everyone that doesn’t get it. It’s impossible to travel when dribbling unless you’re really trying to travel, a travel is taking three steps with the ball gathered(meaning you can’t dribble anymore). NBA realized that you CAN take three steps before picking up the ball basically so it’s smoother for basket creating.

The ball isn't gathered when you have both hands on it, it's when you have control over it, once he ended the dribble

The gather started when his left foot was on the ground. He traveled.

3 steps, for me gather step is always counted 1 when you are in possession. Gather step is 0 when you received a pass.

Doesn't matter. Everyone is doing 3 to 5 steps anyway. That's why the ratings are down 😂
