For centuries, yoga has been touted for its physical and mental benefits. But what if this ancient practice held the key to unlocking new pathways in your brain?

Somatic yoga focuses on internal body sensations and mindful movement. It has the potential to influence neuroplasticity - the brain’s ability to adapt and change.

Unlike traditional yoga that focuses on postures, somatic yoga emphasizes internal body awareness.

This focus on internal experience may be the key. By bringing awareness to subtle body sensations, somatic yoga might activate new neural pathways involved in body awareness, proprioception, and interoception.

Curious about how somatic yoga can impact your mind and body?

In this episode of the Uplifted Yoga podcast, join us as I trace the origins of this practice to Thomas Hanna’s groundbreaking work in the 1970s, discovering how our bodies remember stress and trauma through stiffness and pain.

I challenged myself to a month of it…I’m on day 11 and obsessed! Like I can’t wait until the next practice every day 😂❤

This is not what Thomas Hanna taught at all! Slow movements wirh attention using pandiculation to release the 3 involuntary relexes. Where did you train in jigging and shaking?
