Iranians feel most offended when they are treated as Arabs.

Iran is in the Middle East like the Arabs, has similar characters in writing, and above all, it's easy for us to think that Iran is also Arab because they share the same religion, Islam.

However, Iran is not Arab. Iran is Iran, and Arab is Arab.

Iran and the Arabs are very different in many ways. They are different in ethnicity, language, and even religion.

Moreover, the relationship between Iran and the Arabs has not been very good for a very long time. The relationship between Iran and the Arabs is similar to that of historical enemies. It’s understandable that they would be upset if referred to as Arabs, given that their relationship is not good to that extent.

This video discusses the differences between Iran and the Arabs and why they are like enemies.

As an Iranian Canadian I can attest that the vast majority are now religion averse and feel the duping and imposition Islam has been on our culture since the initial Arab conquest

I am an Iranian and I must say that your religious information about Iran applies for the past few years! Currently, most Iranians hate Islam! The current government of the Islamic Republic of Iran is not one of the people of Iran! People hate the Islamic Republic! The main priority of the Komet is Islam, not the people of Iran! Iranians will soon take back the proud land of their ancestors! Long live humanity! long live freedom

Farsi is a native name among Iranians and the correct pronunciation is Parsi and in English, it is called Persian language.

In 1979 when the hostage thing happened I was in the 7th grade. My best friend at the time was a wonderful Iranian girl who had recently immigrated to the US. We used to talk about the hostage situation and she was as upset by it as I was. I am fascinated by the middle east in many aspects.
Thank you for this enlightening video!

It's like calling Germans as Russians, Chinese as Japanese, Australians as convicts and Swiss as French. Its understandable why they get insulted by it

As a Greek, Iran/Persia is a special country due to its unique history and culture, even in school we learn about Persian civilization and the Greco-Persian wars so we view Persia as a glorious country. So, I get annoyed when they confuse Iran or Turkey with Arabs cause they are not. But their cultures have been altered by the Arabs.
The reason why people mistake Iran or Turkey for Arabs is because of the religion and fanaticism, deal with it, as long as you support !slam so desperately making it a part of your society, culture and politics you will be confused with Arabs.
During Kemals rule in Turkey, where he abandoned religion and focus on western values, none dared to refer to them as Arabs, but now they are viewed differently. Same with Iran since the revolution.

I'm always amazed that stuff like this has to be explained to so many people.
Did the education system fail people so miserably?
We learnt stuff like this at school fifty yrs ago.

An Iranian actually told me that they, to my surprise, do NOT like hearing us refer to their language as "Farsi, " but as "Persian, " saying it would be like calling Spanish "español" while speaking English.

Iran, Kurdistan, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Israel, Egypt, Sudan, Somalia, Lybia, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Comoros and Mouritania are definitely NOT Arabs. Some of these countries adopted the Arabic as an official language after independence (20th Century), and some did not, but that does not make these countries/nationd Arabs.
The Arabs (geographically, ethnically and culturally) are The Arabia : Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Jordan, Bahrain, the Emirates and Yemen.

My husband was born in Iran and his famiky left there because of religion . . . As children they got targeted and picked on for being "Christians" in an Islamic Country. They left a few years before their revolution . . . GOD WAS WITH THEM!

I recently met a guy who told me that he was Persian. I have met others who call themselves Iranians. I then say you are Persian. They smile and nod.

If they went back to there root religion in a sense of how India has maintained its ancient religion. It could easily become an much more advanced country. Ironic right?

In my younger college days I had many Persian friends (1979). Persians were very hospitable and progressive. Respect 🙏.

I remember when me and my brother went on a trip to Thailand (we are 50/50 iranian/swedish descent born & raised as christians) and there was one aussie guy asking us our nationality. When we mentioned the word "iranian" he instantly replied "Oh so you're arab." Where my brother instantly replied "Hey don't call me an arab." I can't blame them though. It's like people believeing Irak and Iran is the same. The arab label is hard to dodge if you are of middle eastern origin. The muslim label is also hard to dodge as a middle easterner if you don't wear a cross necklace. Hopefully people will educate themselves about middle east in the future.
