Would voice chat fix SOLOQ?

As some one that comes from and still regularly plays dota. The difference a VC would make is honestly mind-boggling. Yes, there will be bad actors, but just like text chat, you can mute them. And after the novelty of vc wears off, you're going to get mainly people communicating actual pertinent information.

I think toxicity would be less overall but way more intense when you actually find a really toxic player. Nobody cares about rewards for not being toxic because Riot keeps nerfing them alongside all of the f2p rewards. The only way I see would be to permanently record everything and manually review reports (which Riot is never going to do because why waste money with no return) and make it honor level 4 or 5 exclusive. But I really don’t see that happening.

dota has voice chat and something most high ranked players say is to mute all until you are top 1% then you will have benefit from what they have to say

I honestly love the idea of communicating directly, but because im the jungler all im gonna hear is stupid shit like

"can you gank pls? my champ requires gold"

and then they insta tilt and say sarcastic toned bullshit when im not even in the condition to use my turn's tempo

it makes me feel bad for no reason even though if I made the correct play lmao
and this comes from me playing in a vc with a bunch of randoms, hell even in my tryouts...

so I have mixed feelings about vc, sure I can mute them, but id be missing out on so much info as a jungler

I still cant understand how some people think vc is a bad idea. First- most of the league goblins wouldnt be so talkative if u could hear their voice. Second- if someone doesnt want to cooperate u just mute them (yes its that easy). Its literally the same in csgo where people are extremely toxic, but u always have at least one normal person that uses vc in a way its supposed to be used. And thats already a lot better than no vc.

Purely gameplay wise it probably would make high ELO soloQ better, but for the majority of the players I think it would make the game less enjoyable with all the toxicity with only very little benefit (because let’s face it, we have reasonable ways to communicate now and most people suck at it and refuse to follow pings of others)

I agree that the negative interaction will be worse than in chat, but if you've ever played COD, it'll be about the same as that lol and you can always just mute and report.

I agree that it'll be alot more toxic, but only in the beginning. I think eventually the toxic people will get banned out of the game, and simultaneously, proper comms will fix alot of the big problems that League has, making people less likely to flame.

For example, you got Maokai vs Olaf top, Hecarim vs Volibear jung, you have Yone Mid, whatever ADC and a Leona Supprt. The game is fine.... except the Maokai keeps dying to Olaf after lvl 6 because he keeps tryna CC him when he's on his ult so the Leona TPs top to help, Hec with a gank, only to die 3v1. Then you got a Hecarim that's wondering why he keeps losing damage, and taking a bunch of damage while Voli gets a shield and heals a ton off him. Now Olaf is at least 7/0 and the Voli is 4/0, and the game is essentially lost.

It could've all been avoided by having the ability to just say "When Olaf is glowing he can't be CCed. Don't let him auto you, and it'll go away, then you can cc him to death" or "Voli's E slows anyone it hits and gives hima shield. Your passive makes you do decreased damage with any movement speed debuff. Also if you have an X over you, stay away from Voli until it's gone, them he can't heal".

Now, that took my like 1 to 2 mins to type.... that's ALOT of time in League, so you can't really do that in text until the endgame where all the damage is already done, and the death timers are high. At that point, when the team is 6 kills to 36, all you really wanna do is flame your team for dying in such preventable ways.

I think vc will fix it, you can still just mute toxic people but 90% are too antisocial to be toxic in vc

Its so much easier to just type and ping than to do it in vc

Hey there's this really cool thing called a mute button. Add voice chat and if u wanna use it with some of your team and not use it with rest of team just Add a fucking mute button just like u can mute pings and text chat. I don't understand how that's a hard concept for Riot

This is a technical problem. You report players separately for voice comms and you get a 'voice score' that costs abusers and promotes good conduct... People will follow the incentives...

Its so sad to hear whenever someone mentions league the first thought that comes to mind is toxicity beside the community league of legends isnt that bad of a game

It actually would be better nowadays then in any other time in league history. Toxicity was so bad in league for so long that new people have no idea what it was like. You couldn't go a match without getting called slurs and told to unalive yourself in the most horrendous way possible every match.

I love what Riot has done to counter toxicity and it really shows the fruits of their labour when now if someone is being disgusting and abhorrent, I know if I report them, they will be punished within minutes of the match ending. If they find a better way to moderate voice chat which I'm sure they will, league will then be ready for it.
