His voice here is purposely like this - unrefined, not polished and raw. But with potential to make your heart explode and have your eyes just burst in tears. I think the seiyuu did a good job portraying that.

Let’s be real especially to the people who say he has a bad voice. This guy has NEVER practiced singing. He’s not going to be the best singer off the bat. Just needs practice. I think a lot of people think he should be an amazing singer but I think it’s better like this. It’ll show him grow throughout the story. He saw potential in Sato’s voice and was moved by it. Just clearing that up.

Why does people laugh at him when he sings “la la la” and when he says “MADAAA” everyone’s cry I cried at both

Here’s the thing, the point of this wasn’t to show that he was an amazing singer, just to show how his voice held so much pent up emotion that hit you so deep it gave you chills. That’s exactly what I personally felt when listening to this. Yes, his voice isn’t perfect, but it holds so much emotion that I feel like it achieves exactly what it was going for.

The things that hits me hardest is when they reveal that Yuuki hummed this same tune when he was alive, remembering that Mafuyu had sung it recently.
this tune that both of them had sung, resonating between their lips, still plays in Mafuyu's head. That's why it's the first thing he thought of singing. It makes my heart break in too many places.. now Uenoyama will help develop this tune into a beautiful song. A flourishing progress.

His voice is pretty okay. He's like one of those people who have potential, but need some pratice and training to be better. Or maybe he sounds better singing actual lyrics.

I’ll admit it: when I first heard him sing, I cringed a little because I was expecting to be blown away. I did feel chills, but I wasn’t sure if I was forcing myself to believe Mafuyu was good. Then we got to episode 9.

After coming back to this scene after hearing him sing live, I can finally appreciate how beautiful his singing really was.
