Over the next few days, word of Chen's victory against Akutagawa spreads and Chen becomes a local celebrity in Shanghai. Jingwu's students begin to look up to Chen as their new instructor and that incurs the jealousy of Huo Ting'en.

Ting'en and the senior Jingwu members demand that Chen either leaves Mitsuko or the school, and Huo uses the opportunity to settle his personal vendetta against Chen, by challenging Chen to a fight. Chen defeats Huo eventually, with much reluctance and leaves with Mitsuko.

Huo Ting'en is humiliated by his defeat and gives up his position as master of Jingwu before leaving to join his prostitute lover. Jingwu's members eventually discover Huo Ting'en's relationship with the prostitute and reprimand him. Huo learns his lesson and returns to Jingwu.

You guys don't understand. This scene showed the impact of the new techs to the old traditional Chinese culture. Jet Li in the movie played the guy who went Japan for finding the way to develop the old China martial arts. He represented the Chinese people who tried to learn the modern technologies for helping their home in 1800s. It is a spirit to become strong and face the challenges.

I really like this scene. You can see how at first hes just trying to avoid attacks because he doesnt want to fight Tingen. He gets struck once, and starts actively blocking his attacks while showing he could hit him while his guard is down, but cant because hes his friend. But when the other students start saying that his girlfriend should get out, he beats the crap out of Tingen, but still feels bad about it.

I like the end. I love the way they admit defeat when their master is beaten. It means they aren't bigots who can't accept different ways. When they see their way has failed they adopt a new master (the one who beat their old one) this is why martial arts always keeps growing. It's like evolution!

"I lost... you are the master now "

only a true honorable fighter can end a battle saying that...

I love how this is a reboot of Bruce Lee's film, but Jet Li directed this entire movie brilliantly. It has so many more complex elements and the plot is deeper. Not to mention the final villain was so iconic.

Even though Jet Li is a wushu fighter, he showed techniques from multiple martial arts. Jeet Kun Do, Capoeria, Wing Chun and others.

I love how Jet Li incorporates a modern boxing style to his martial arts. His opponent has no chance. When he does the boxing style of constantly hopping and moving left to right, keeps Jet Li's movement flowing and constant... So when he decides to dodge or attack, he is already in the act of moving... So he is almost a full step faster than his opponent. This jump step style is actually utilized in Tae Kwon Do... but they do not take full advantage of it.

The worst mistake you can make when fighting Jet Li is to star in a JET LI movie.

Love the incorporation of Boxing at 1:45. Taking a piece from every martial art and self defense is exactly the way to beat your opponent.

1:16 I love that what set Chen (Jet Li) off is that concerned yet embarrassed look his woman gave him like 'Oh hell nah not in front of my lady I'm gonna have to really show dude what time it is.'

Got dammit 50 mil views, didnt know Jet lee was getting this popular. This is one of the best fight scenes ever made even until today. The timing, rythm and speed is flowing perfect together. Its amazing how no proffesional fighter could do something even close to this because real fighting and "movie Kung fu" is so different. I remember the movie Who am I with Jackie chan on the rooftop and the white guy with his kicks is a proffesional and had so many problems with the timing and staying on the same spot while doing his double kick so Brad Alan had to stunt for him. Only the Chinese can do these kinds of amazing Art, even the Matrix fights are made by a chinese yuen Wo Ping.
