I found that the flakes aren’t dissolving on my express cycle. I started grind them up first and then dissolve in water. Seems like more work but I do like how my clothes are after washing. Also love summer so I can hang them to dry outside, such a fresh smell.

Just dissolve the soap flakes in hot water before adding to your washing machine.

My gosh I have SO many questions. I have felt like I’m in a nightmare since learning that tide was irritating my skin and having to replace it, with nothing actually cleaning my clothes. I tried making my own detergent and it did nothing but give my arm a workout from having to scrub my stainless steel pot clean of residue for an hour, lol! Right now I’m using attitude (Canadian eco friendly brand) and I’m not convinced it’s getting my clothes clean OR that it’s as non toxic as it could be. If it’s always been this simple to use soap flakes instead of these toxic detergents, my question is how did we get here? By here, I mean how did we get to the point that it took weeks of research for me to even find this information because so few people use soap flakes in their laundry? I don’t get it. Do you understand the history of how or why detergents became so popular and overtook soap flakes? Another question I have is about the laundress detergent - why do you like it, and are there times you would recommend it over soap flakes?
