An early morning Sunday stolen truck pursuit ended abruptly in Northwest Portland when police cornered and shot a suspect before taking him into custody.

Andreus J. Boinay, 27, has been booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Reckless Driving, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, and Attempt to Elude in a Vehicle.

Two police officers fired their weapons and have been placed on administrative leave, PPB said. No officers were injured in the incident.

Interesting how few comments here acknowledge that stealing a truck and evading police (in an urban neighbourhood) is not only morally wrong but also dangerous.
If you want to make theft legal then vote in the lawmakers that will do it, until then accept that for society to work, and not become a might is right free for all, law must be enforced.

All this says, is that he stole a car and tried to get away. So, he must’ve tried to run the officers over with the car? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Wish we had body cams, that way we could actually see why a car thief, during a Pandemic with no unemployment, needed to be shot at. 😢

Obviously we don’t want ANY crime, but if we’re really going to call it fair game to kill car thieves, we have a MUCH bigger issue.
