China's Independence Day

It was 75 years ago today when China finally gained independence from the Elite land owners known as the KMT. The People's Republic f China was formed and the lives of the people got better. It was a long hard struggle but after famine and hardship they became the biggest economy in the world and created a country with by far the best infrastructure in the world. This is a walk through downtown Nanning China on the first day of a seven day holiday. Yes this is a good look at the local life of the Chinese People.

Not Independence Day, but National Day. USA national day may be called independence day because of gaining independence from Britain, but China was not gaining independence from any foreign overlord.

I am not Chinese but I have seen the result of what their system and government has done for them and for that, I am fully appreciative. To put in perspective, just look at next door India, world's largest shamocracy, champion of failure.

China has always been "independent". It's simply a national day when PRC was formed. No need to link that to the "independence day" of some nation.

Kirk, my heart went out to you when your lovely wife passed. I know you were at a low ebb in your life. But, life goes on. Now, I see the joy and excitement in your faces as you pass the endless crowds of upbeat and happy people. Joy is contagious. I even see your eyes twinkling when a pretty Chinese girl smiles and waves at you. Okay, most of them are a bit young for you. But you're a guy, and any guy who is healthy and still alive will feel a smile hitting his face when pretty girls wave at you. So, guess what? Kirk, you are back!! Congratulations, and I hope you have many more decades walking the streets of Nanning. You're a Gweilo in name only, Kirk. You are one of us now. You have adopted us, and we have adopted you. You are our Canadian son, but we call you one of our own. Welcome home, and enjoy National Day!!

Happy independence day my friend. Greetings from a German guy living in the US. However, thinking about moving there as well. I got to know a Chinese lady and do research on the country. Have seen only positive things.

There’s no shortage of very pretty girls in China. And they are friendly. They are certainly much more at ease than North American girls.
