I bought a pair of the Clifton 8s a week ago and have put around 40 miles on them. They are extremely comfortable at any pace, from a long, easy run, to fartlek, to strides. Most importantly for me, though, is that the pain I've had in my heels for the last 6 years (Haglund's deformity) has nearly completely resolved. After just one week. So I'm pretty excited. Your review corroborates everything I've experienced so far.

PS I live in Japan, where only the wide version of the shoe seems to be sold (many Japanese have a wide forefoot), and that works very well for me. Nice and roomy.

Glad to see Hoka didn’t change too much to the Clifton. I may just get a pair or two of 7s on discount after the 8 drops, although I really dig that colorway...

I have the Clifton 8 and the Mach 4. They are a nice complement to each other. I actually feel the toe box is improved over the 7 slightly. I also really love the release color. I had to get it.

I have the 7 and looks like no major upgrade. The Clifton is great for daily trainer, long runs like marathon effort. I'm an average runner so Clifton and Torin are my go to on any race. Best value for every kilometers. For wide feet like me, I bought the 2E wide option and it's been true fit.

I was waiting for this one! I’m on my third pair of Clifton 7, which followed a pair of the Clifton 6. Big fan of the Clifton, if you couldn’t tell. I need a “do it all” shoe. Something for track workouts all the way to my long road runs. Fit is secure and I DID run my 10k PR in the 7 😉 I’m happy to see they didn’t change much. This is a shoe you’ll definitely get your money out of. 400+ miles is totally achievable. Loving the reviews and production. Keep it up, Ryan!

Thank you for the review.
I love the Clifton 7 shoe. They are light and very comfortable. Recently the shoe got wet, and after that they started to squeak with every step I took. I found a video online that said to add baby powder inside the shoe, shake it, and then dispose of the extra powder. This tip made the squeaking sound go away. I will try not to get them wet again.

Thanks for the video. Great sneakers. I think the best thing to do when getting a good running shoe is to visit a running store with staff who know which shoes would suit the runner and give the best recommendation. I am flat footed so I had to learn the hard way lol. Just subscribed to your channel buddy.

The Clifton 7 (WIDE) is my absolute favorite runningshoe.
Even as wide, its a tight fit, but the fabric has enough give, that it just sits really good on the foot.
And it just makes my feet want to run :-)
Slow, fast, distance (50K) or short intervals, it does it all for me.
And unlike the Speedgoat, the midsole foam keeps its softness and elasticity in cold weather.
If the 8 builds just a little of "better" on top of the 7, it's a winner for me. If it still comes in wide...
Are the laces still absurdly long ?
Thanks for the review :-)

Comparing to the clifton 7, it sounds like it lost some stack height. Interesting choice by hoka. Personally I love the clifton but hoka needs to start innovating soon in foams/uppers because other brands have definitely caught up in tech. Most brands have a clifton like shoe in their line up so hoka's high cushion claim to fame is running out of steam

I bought a pair for recovery runs and walks, and had the chance to run in the rain today, I'm surprised that even though there's so little rubber and mostly foam, the rubber had some grip that prevented slipping. However under 50 miles and the rubber is starting to wear :( not so on my Asics Gel Nimbus which started wearing down around 200 miles. These 2 imo are the plushiest cushiest in the market without being too thick and unstable. I still prefer the Nimbus overall for superior shock absorption (past ankle injury).

I love my Clifton 8's, I just started back running, and I must say they are the most comfortable runners I've ever had. I started in the Nike Epic React; they were okay, but still a lot of foot pain (just walking). I then switched to the Nike Winflow 7; too stiff and caused a lot of foot pain. The Hoka 8 is the key. I haven't tried the Nike Invincible just yet, but I have them in my closet.

Oh my oh my! Previously, I have been a Skechers devotee but recently I discovered the Hoka Clifton 7. Limoooousine's for the feet, I love 'em. Move over Skechers, I gotta add Hoka to my line up! Yesterday, since I needed a combo light trail and road shoe, I got the Hoka Challenger ATR 6. Woohoo! I love that one too. A number of reviewers poo poo this style of pull tab, even mocking it by calling it an "Elf ear." Huh? I like pull tabs and I prefer this style to the loop where you have trouble inserting your finger in the loop!!! I have a double AA narrow foot so when reviewer talk about anything narrow, I say---hooray!!! The Clifton 7 is my 1st Hoka and I am sure it is a great place to start. I have no need for speed. I am a 64 year old 180lb. Clydesdale. Just subscribed.

I've destroyed mine, wish I took some more care of them but they are some of the most versatile and comfortable shoes I've worn, really considering buying another pair

Great Review. Love the style and structure of the review. Will be picking up the Clifton 8 when it drops. Have ran in version 1, 5 pairs of the 3's, the 4's and 5's, and even the reboot of the original plus the Clifton edge. I would have to say that the Clifton is the shoe that if you only had a budget for one shoe to do many things, this would be money well spent.

This Hoka shoe really cought my attention. Real sexy shoe. Probably the best looking running shoe out right now.

Thanks for the review. I haven't tried a Hoka yet and I've always been eyeing the Clifton line if ever it comes to a point that I'll purchase my first ever pair.

Getting ready to get a pair of the 9's. Ive been experiencing knee pain after running lately. Been rocking a cheap pair of under armor shoes for a few years and i think its time to go for somethng with some real quality
