They'll manage within weeks. There is a 3-month stock, and Russian oil is is only 12% of Germany's imports now, down from 35% three months ago.

As long it is not a long and cold winter. Besides a 1 bln weapon contract Germany can by Russian oil straight frim the US for a much higher price. 100% dependent on the US.

What happens if Ukraine uses missiles to cut off Russian gas and oil exports to the EU? It can't be that difficult for them to fire a missile at a pile line and Russia can't protect thousands of miles of pipes. Who's to say the Ukraine war has to stay in Ukraine, surely it would be in Ukraine's interests for the war to spill over all around Russia, with Russia infrastructure being hit and crippling Russia.

This situation does present an opportunity. The industrial development of Eastern and Central Europe is the generational challenge really perhaps. Ukraine needs the shop space at the moment to continue their economic operations. The Don basin is the heart of industrial production in Ukraine. Allowing the de facto annexation of Eastern Ukraine and Crimea is perhaps the price of peace.
