1. Create a sense of safety.
2. Identity what you do and do not have control over and how to accept that.
3. Learn how to set and maintain boundaries. Respect other people's boundaries, too, instead of assuming they need rescuing.
4. Connect with and comfort your inner child.
5. Develop self esteem. You are lovable for who you are, not just what you do for others.
6. Address abandonment anxiety.
7. Get support (friends, support groups, partner)
8. Increase awareness of where you have been and where you are going. Take stock of where you are now and your progress to date re reducing codependence.
9. Define your rich and meaningful life and act in a way in order to free up energy.
10. Practice morning and evening mindful, compassionate awareness of your triggers, needs, vulnerabilities, healthy versus codependent thoughts and behaviors.
11. Set smart goals and review them every morning and night. (Today I will use my energy And then evaluate your progress towards this goal in the evening.)

Be mindful of not slipping back into old habits.

Somehow ended up with more than 10. Oh well.

I have learned soo much from her. So knowledgeable. I believe at my age of almost 47, I might need to accept my codependency as just do my best to watch it, and understand.

It's worse when the one you care about is making a decision which will likely result in a harm to them by someone else. This has been their pattern for years. Accepting what I can't control is proving the most difficult hurdle for me to overcome.

I am definitely a rescuer. I am so aware of it now that I catch myself sending someone a video....including these! LOL. I wish I could have learned all of this 30 years ago.

Even though I get tempted to give up on model car building, I keep at it and don't give up on it because it actually helps my self esteem especially after I build one successfully!!

Doc Snipes this video helped me have a major breakthrough in my recovery this week and came at the perfect time. Thank you for breaking everything down step by step. After reflecting on each step it helped me to understand why and where old patterns were continuing to show up in one of my relationships specifically. As a result I journaled on what I needed to do to shift my thinking and show up differently in this area and it all became clear. Since then I began implementing changes and have already seen immediate improvements. The journey to self discovery and recovery is hard, takes a lot of practice, patience with yourself and resilience; but I am confident that with my continued desire to learn and improve this generational cycle will end with me and that makes it all 💯 worth it.💛
